The Asian Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championship concluded with impressive results for the Uzbek team: athletes won over fifty medals and secured victories in the team standings across four disciplines during the eight days of competition.
The final stage of the championship, held in Tashkent at the 'Olympic City,' was dedicated to awarding medals in the heaviest weight category. In the over 110 kilograms youth category, Omadillo Olimov succeeded by winning gold in both the 'clean and jerk' exercise and overall in the combined event, thus concluding the tournament with a double gold.
Overall, the Uzbekistan national team received 51 medals at the tournament. Among the young athletes, 7 gold, 10 silver, and 6 bronze awards were won, totaling 23 medals. The junior team added 6 gold, 8 silver, and 14 bronze medals to the total result, making 28 awards.
The team demonstrated a high level in team competitions, taking prize places in four areas: in total points among youth, in points among female athletes, in the overall junior result, and among male athletes.
The National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan congratulated the Uzbekistan Weightlifting Federation, as well as the athletes, coaches, and fans on the achieved results. It is worth noting that previously, representatives of the Uzbekistan national team in track cycling, Nikita Tsvetkov and Sergey Rostotsyev, had won medals at the international IV. Budapest GP tournament, which took place in Hungary.
