Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set an ambitious goal—to get fifty Indian companies included in the Fortune 500 list. Furthermore, he urged Indian businesses to strengthen their global presence and strive for the highest level of competition.
Addressing the nation from Red Fort on Independence Day, Modi emphasized that India's economic aspirations should focus on creating globally competitive companies, rather than solely developing the domestic market as a large consumer.
Modi stated that the objective should be for 50 Indian firms to enter the Fortune 500. He put forward this task in the context of his vision for the next stage of India's economic growth, which focuses on manufacturing, technology, innovation, and global trade.
The Prime Minister also noted the rapid growth of the banking sector in India and stated that one Indian banking organization should enter the top five global leaders. He also advised Indian companies to aim to be among the top five global pharmaceutical companies.
Speaking to the nation from Red Fort on Independence Day, Modi stressed that India's economic progress must be demonstrated through globally recognized companies in key sectors. He noted that by utilizing the potential of its youth and the country's growing opportunities, India should achieve what has not been accomplished in the last five to seven decades within the next five to seven years.
Technology will play a crucial role in this ambitious endeavor. Modi stated that India must spread its digital technologies worldwide and make 'Made-in-India 6G' accessible globally.
He also highlighted the expansion of India's manufacturing sector over the past twelve years. It was noted that the defense industry grew almost fourfold, the electronics industry grew approximately sevenfold, and mobile phone production increased by 33 times.
