After five years without major introductions, Jeep has finally launched the Avenger, its new entry-level model, this week. Positioned below the Renegade, this vehicle uses the CMP (Common Modular Platform) platform from the Stellantis group, shared with models such as Peugeot 2008, Alfa Romeo Junior, Lancia Ypsilon, and Opel Mokka, marking the beginning of the concept of a compact Jeep focused on urban use.
Although it maintains the brand's association with off-roading, the Avenger does not have any four-wheel-drive version, unlike what was offered even in the Renegade. This decision is part of Jeep's goal to establish the Avenger as the best-selling car of the brand in the country.
To achieve this goal, Jeep implemented an aggressive pricing strategy. The initial version, Altitude, had a promotional price of R$ 114,990 for the first thousand orders. At launch, on August 12, the Avenger Altitude became the most affordable hybrid in the country, a relevant factor in the purchase decision for an entry-level hybrid, given the competitive scenario.
The simplification of the lineup was also a tactic adopted by Jeep. All Avenger configurations—Altitude, Longitude, and Limited—use the same mechanical set: the 1.0 turbo T200 engine, common to other Stellantis vehicles like the Fiat Fastback, Strada, and Pulse, as well as the Peugeot 208 and 2008, and Citroën Basalt, Aicross, and C3. However, instead of the usual 125/130 hp (gasoline/ethanol), the Avenger operates with 116 hp, an optimization to fit into a more favorable tax bracket. The torque remains at 20.4 kgfm (maintaining the 200 Nm of the T200), and the engine is always combined with a 12V mild hybrid system, with the only available transmission being the seven-speed simulated CVT.
The dimensions of the Jeep Avenger are 4.08 meters in length, 1.78 m in width, 1.58 m in height, and 2.56 m wheelbase, making it the smallest in its category. Its trunk holds 321 liters. By standardizing the powertrain across the entire line, Jeep ensures that the choice of version is not based on performance, but rather on trim and equipment, which helps reduce the perceived difference between versions.
Despite Jeep being a brand associated with enthusiasm, acquiring the Avenger is seen more as a practical decision, focused on fuel economy and cost-benefit ratio, since buyers in the compact hybrid SUV segment prioritize these aspects. To better understand the Avenger's positioning, it is crucial to analyze its competitors.
Jeep maintained the lineup simplification, initially offering three versions with the same mechanics. The entry-level version, Avenger Altitude, for R$ 119,990 (full price), offers items such as LED headlights and taillights, six airbags, digital air conditioning, automatic braking collision warning, lane assist, seven-inch digital display, ten-inch multimedia center with wireless mirroring, fatigue detector, automatic high beam, electronic parking brake, cruise control, terrain selector, and rear parking sensor. Visually, it is distinguished by 16-inch wheels and the absence of longitudinal roof rails, although these can be added in the High Altitude package, which raises the price to R$ 126,990 and includes a rearview camera. Altitude is the only one that does not come in Boreal Green, limited to Snow White, Carbon Black, Granite Gray, and Concrete Gray.
The intermediate version, Avenger Longitude, costs R$ 135,990 and incorporates all the features of the Altitude, plus adaptive cruise control, vinyl and fabric seats, fog lights, gear shift paddles behind the steering wheel, keyless entry, inductive charging, automatic air conditioning, and 17-inch wheels.
Optional accessories available for the Longitude include the Convenience Pack (which adds rear USB/USB-C ports, frameless interior mirror, power-folding exterior mirrors, blind spot monitoring, front, rear, and side parking sensors), sunroof, and the Jeep Adventure Intelligence system, which brings a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and AI assistant. The top-tier version, Avenger Limited, is priced at R$ 145,990 and represents the top of the line. It contains all the features of the Longitude, plus Level 2 adaptive cruise control, Matrix LED headlights, 360° camera, Convenience Pack, photochromic interior mirror, eight-color ambient lighting, integrated GPS, blind spot monitor, and 18-inch wheels. The only extra is the electric panoramic sunroof (R$ 7,500), and only the Limited has the front grille illuminated with upper LEDs.
Analyzing the main competitors in the Brazilian market, the direct rivals of the Jeep Avenger are the Volkswagen Taigun, Renault Kardian, Chevrolet Sonic, and Fiat Pulse.
The Volkswagen Taigun, launched in 2025 and popular in best-seller lists, dominates the segment with good design, efficient mechanics, and good equipment. Its Altitude 170 TSI version competes directly, costing R$ 123,190. Although both have 116 hp (with ethanol, dropping to 109 hp with gasoline), the Taigun has lower torque (16.8 kgfm versus 20.4 kgfm from the Avenger). The wheelbase is identical (2.56 m), but the VW Taigun's trunk is larger, with 350 liters. The Taigun offers autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, six airbags, fatigue detector, 10.1-inch multimedia center with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 8-inch digital instrument cluster, air conditioning (not digital), LED headlights and taillights, cruise control, and rear parking sensors.
The Renault Kardian, with its Evolution AT version, reaches R$ 124,990. It uses the 1.0 turbo TCe engine of 120/125 hp (gasoline/ethanol) and generates 22.4 kgfm of torque, surpassing the Jeep by 2 kgfm, coupled with a six-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Kardian is equipped with 100% LED headlights and LED DRLs, six airbags, automatic digital air conditioning, 7-inch digital display, 8-inch multimedia center with wireless mirroring, e-shifter, speed controller and limiter, rear parking sensor, Hill Start Assist (HSA), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), functional and modular roof rails, electric mirrors, and adjustable steering wheel.
The main advantage of the Kardian lies in internal space, with a trunk capacity of 410 liters, the largest in the category, and a wheelbase of 2.60 m, providing more legroom for rear passengers.
National competition is represented by the Fiat Pulse Turbo 200 (T200), which costs R$ 119,990, the same as the Avenger. Both share the simulated seven-speed CVT transmission. Jaguar has released the first images of the interior of the Type 01, which will be its next all-electric automobile. This model adopts a minimalist cabin design, characterized by four seats separated by a central structure described as a kind of 'spine' extending throughout the interior space.
Recent photographs made available by the manufacturer show an interior predominantly in beige, with the driver's seat positioned at a reduced height and a narrow instrument panel. In the center of this panel, there is a screen that resembles a smartphone.
A notable aspect is the elimination of the conventional interior rearview mirror. In its place, Jaguar has implemented the system called 'ClearSight Rear View Display', which is positioned at the bottom of the windshield. According to the company, this screen is level with the side mirrors, a setup designed to help the driver maintain concentration while driving.
The Type 01 originates from the controversial Type 00 concept, which Jaguar first presented in 2024. This new model will be the first production vehicle built using the electrical architecture developed by Jaguar.
Before the official launch, the automaker plans to display a prototype of the Type 01 during the Monterey Car Week in the United States. At this event, the vehicle will still be shown covered in camouflage. The official reveal date for the Jaguar Type 01 is scheduled for October 6.
Thus, the new model signals the progression of the Type 00, which was presented as a concept, and represents a significant advance in Jaguar's strategy to incorporate an entirely electric line, starting with an architecture specifically designed for this type of vehicle.
