Urban Arrow has expanded its presence in the North American electric cargo bike market with the introduction of the Breeze, its first longtail model available in the region.
This new model was specifically designed to meet the needs of families who need to transport children, groceries, and other items, without relying on the bulkier format of front-loading cargo bikes. The Breeze concept balances dimensions closer to a standard bicycle with high carrying capacity.
The Breeze will be sold in the United States and Canada through partner dealers, with an initial price set at US$ 6,999. The manufacturer equipped the model with a Bosch Cargo Line motor, an Enviolo continuously variable transmission, and a Gates belt, aiming for optimized use in a family environment.
This foray by Urban Arrow into the longtail segment comes after 14 years of primarily focusing on front-loading cargo bikes. The company noticed growing interest in the rear-loading format in North America and decided to diversify its product line to capture this audience.
A notable aspect of the Breeze is its 24-inch wheels. Unlike the 20-inch standard often seen on longtails, Urban Arrow opted for a larger set so that the riding experience more closely resembles that of a traditional bicycle. Furthermore, this larger configuration contributes to greater stability both at high speeds and while transporting passengers.
The mechanical assembly integrates the Bosch Cargo Line motor, the Enviolo transmission hub, and the Gates carbon belt system. This combination was chosen to ensure smoother operation and require less maintenance, while eliminating dependence on the conventional chain system.
Carrying capacity is another strong point of the model. The rear rack supports up to 80 kg (equivalent to 176 pounds), and the total load limit reaches 200 kg (or 440 pounds). As detailed by the brand itself, this rear space can accommodate two children or passengers along with other belongings.
The frame was designed with family usability in mind. Its low-step design facilitates getting on and off the bicycle, which is particularly useful when there are passengers or cargo aboard. The Breeze also features fender and belt guards, as well as a dual-leg center stand that aids stability during loading.
Installed features include the Bosch Purion 200 display, various integrated safety elements, and MIK HD mounting points on both the front and rear racks. This functionality allows the user to quickly adjust the bicycle's configuration according to demand, switching between cargo and passenger transport.
For its debut in the North American market, Urban Arrow included an accessory package valued at over US$ 700. This package comprises a passenger protection bar, footrests, seat cushions, and a front rack, reducing the need for the consumer to purchase extra items to transform the bicycle into a complete family vehicle.
Initially, the Breeze will be available in only one color, a green shade, in both the United States and Canada. It is worth noting that the model had already been presented in the European market the previous year, an occasion when a second finish option was made available.
The positioned price places this novelty in the premium segment of electric cargo bikes. However, for Urban Arrow, this positioning follows the strategy already implemented in its other models. The company justifies the investment by arguing that the bicycle must be capable of covering daily commutes, such as taking children to school or grocery shopping—activities that justify the cost for families planning to use the vehicle intensively.
