According to data provided by the Ministry of Home Affairs last month, in 2024–25, 16,200 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) received foreign contributions totaling 22,963 crore rupees.
Despite the gradual tightening of legislation regulating the receipt of foreign aid under the Modi government, the inflow of these funds has increased. This growth occurred even with a decrease in the total number of NGOs registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) 2020.
