UEFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and CONCACAF issued a joint open letter demanding changes to FIFA's governance system and an independent investigation. The catalyst was a controversial proposal to attract private investment into the organization's competitions, including the World Cup, as part of Gianni Infantino's plan.
In the letter, the confederations emphasized that the world football governing body's leadership should serve the interests of football, rather than attempt to control it. The conflict arose over the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE) project, which proposed attracting private capital to FIFA's commercial activities. This initiative was presented and then withdrawn a few days after sparking sharp criticism from football organizations.
All three confederations noted that the issue was not only the substance of the proposal but also the methods of its promotion. In their view, the project was brought up for discussion too quickly, without proper consultation with national federations, which significantly limited the ability to examine its terms.
The organizations also criticized FIFA's reaction to the situation. Specifically, they pointed to an urgent meeting of the leadership in Morocco, where, according to the letter, only one elected representative was present, and members of the FIFA Council and national federations were not invited.
The demand of the three confederations is for a full investigation into the circumstances by an independent body that has no ties to FIFA, its employees, or other interested parties. They believe the organization itself should not investigate a situation they consider a serious breach of trust.
Amid this confrontation, reports have emerged about a possible unification of Infantino's opponents around another candidate for the FIFA presidency. According to The Guardian, one of the potential candidates being considered is CONCACAF President Victor Montaliani. The deadline for announcing candidates for the elections is November 18.
Nevertheless, there is no unified position in world football yet. The African Football Confederation, several Asian federations, and Mexico have publicly supported Infantino. At the same time, the US and Canadian football federations have joined the calls for changes in FIFA's management.
Furthermore, the three confederations have begun preliminary discussions regarding the organization of alternative competitions. UEFA had previously indicated the possibility of boycotting FIFA tournaments, and one of the immediate consequences of this conflict could be the participation of European women's national teams in the U-20 World Cup.
The dispute, which began around the FFE project, has transformed into a broader conflict between FIFA's leadership and several leading football structures. The complaints now concern not only Infantino's specific initiative but also issues of transparency, accountability, and the distribution of powers within the global football organization.
Previously, FIFA retained Gianni Infantino in his position following the scandal related to plans to sell a stake in World Cup rights. After a seven-hour meeting in Rabat, the organization's leadership admitted mistakes, Infantino apologized, and stated that he would not return to the idea of attracting private investment into tournaments.
Orlando Pirates coach Abdelslam Waddu provided an update on the injuries of Talente Mbatla and Evidens McGopa after both players missed recent club matches.
Waddu made these statements after Pirates drew against AmaZulu in the Betway Premier League at Kings Park Stadium on Wednesday. Mbatla could not participate in the trip to Durban, and McGopa has not yet featured for the Buccaneers this season.

Brazil has secured a significant participation in the Rainbow Six Siege tournament semifinals at the Esports World Cup 2026. Among the four teams qualified for the title fight are FURIA and FaZe Clan, along with two other teams that also have Brazilian members in their rosters.

With this, the semifinals have been defined, and this Friday's (14th) confrontations keep alive the possibility of a historic decision for the Brazilian Rainbow Six scene. If FURIA and FaZe win, they will face each other in the grand final of the Esports World Cup 2026, which would guarantee the title of the competition to the country.
