The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken serious action against the oldest Burger King branch in Pune, which has been operating since 1992. Following an inspection due to violations of food safety and hygiene rules, the FDA inspected the popular East Street branch in the Camp area and sealed the premises. Furthermore, the authorities have suspended the establishment's license.

Serious deficiencies in sanitation were identified during the inspection, as well as instances of non-compliance with the Food Standards and Safety Act. This Camp branch is one of the oldest Burger King establishments in Pune and has served as a landmark for city residents for generations.

According to the FDA, following the discovery of critical unsanitary conditions and violations of food safety standards, the licenses or registrations of 16 establishments were immediately suspended. Among the affected establishments were Fortune Enterprises (Hotel Sayaji) in Lonavala, Hotel Chul Mutton in Handewar Nagar, Simply South in Bhosari, Hotel Pawan in Kolapur, Rajesh Chinese in Sangli, JBM Hospitality (Canteen) in Pune (which was ordered to cease operations due to operating without a license), and Burger King on East Street in Solapur Bazar, Camp, Pune.

The campaign also included Domino’s Pizza in Karad, Satara, Pizza Hut in Karad, Satara, as well as e-commerce enterprises Zepto Limited in Lohangaon, Swinsta ENT Private Limited in Karvenagar, Blink Commerce Pvt Ltd in Singhgard, and Blink Commerce Pvt Ltd in Bhavani Peth. The dairies that were inspected include Om Sai Ram Milk and Milk Products in Khed, Dharmnath Doodh Shitkaran Kendra in Ambegaon, and R.K. Milk in Handala, Satara.

The FDA emphasized that this campaign was initiated to ensure compliance with hygiene and food safety standards, and that immediate action will be taken against enterprises violating established rules.

Puravankara, a Bangalore-based company, reported a net profit (attributable to owners of the parent company) of INR 28.93 crore for the first quarter of the 2027 fiscal year (Q1FY27). This figure is significantly different from the loss of INR 67.68 crore recorded in Q1FY26.

He added that this execution momentum is expected to support revenue visibility, as 2,777 completed units are currently awaiting revenue recognition.

Previously, the company reported pre-sales of INR 1,439 crore in Q1FY27, which was 28 percent higher than the previous year. During the reporting period, Puravankara's operating income amounted to INR 1,423 crore against operating expenses of INR 1,078 crore, resulting in an operating surplus of INR 345 crore.

During the quarter, the company added INR 5,200 crore in Gross Development Value (GDV) to its portfolio through four land deals in Bangalore.
