After a decade of service and the sale of over two million units, Maruti is preparing to launch a new version of its popular hatchback. This refers to the Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift, which was first introduced by the company in 2015. Currently, the second generation of the Baleno, launched in 2022, is on the market.
Sales of this model exceeded 2 million units before last year. The company sold approximately 1.7 million cars in India, and over 400,000 units were exported. Now, the company plans to introduce an updated version, the launch date of which has already been confirmed.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno Facelift is scheduled for a September 5th launch, making the first week of September busy for releases. In addition to Maruti, Royal Enfield and Simple Electric will present new vehicles in the first half of September. Returning to Maruti, the company will release an updated second-generation Baleno.
More detailed information about the second-generation Baleno will be available soon. Currently, the car's price ranges from 5.99 lakh to 9.14 lakh at the showroom. It is expected that the price of the Baleno Facelift will be higher than that of the current model.
Some spy shots have emerged, suggesting changes to the vehicle. The Baleno Facelift will feature a new grille with a horizontal bar in the center, which is likely to have chrome trim and connect both headlights. The headlight design is expected to remain unchanged.
During testing, the car was spotted with a redesigned bumper, as well as updated alloy wheels. Changes will also affect the rear bumper of the Baleno Facelift, although the taillights will retain the design of the current model. The car will be equipped with a roof spoiler and a rear wiper. No radical changes are expected in the interior either, but Maruti may make adjustments to the cabin upholstery.
The car will be equipped with a 9-inch infotainment system, similar to current variants, as well as a three-spoke steering wheel and trapezoidal air vents. It will support automatic climate control, a 6-speaker audio system, electric mirror adjustment, and IRVM auto-dimming. In terms of the engine, the car will use the same 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine, which produces 90 hp, with the option of a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. In the CNG version, the engine will produce 77.5 hp, so no significant innovations are expected regarding the powertrain.
