New options for left turns have been introduced at the Aktepa Square intersection in Tashkent, eliminating the need for drivers to make additional U-turns. Thanks to these changes, the route has been shortened by almost 600 meters, and travel time has decreased—to as little as 4 minutes during normal hours and 10 minutes during rush hour.
Vehicles traveling from Lutfiy Street towards Nurafshon and Seulskaya Streets can now make a left turn immediately upon the corresponding traffic light signal. Previously, performing this maneuver required driving onto Mukimi Street and executing a U-turn.
A similar improvement has also been implemented for transport coming from the Samarkand Darvoz side. Drivers no longer need to proceed to Nurafshon Street to then turn around and reach Mukimi and Lutfiy Streets; this maneuver can now be performed directly at the intersection.
These innovations are intended to increase traffic speed and reduce congestion that previously occurred due to U-turns on Nurafshon and Mukimi Streets. Furthermore, separate traffic lights have been installed and pedestrian crossings equipped at the intersection to ensure greater safety and comfort for pedestrians.
As a result of implementing the new traffic scheme, drivers have gained a shorter path, and the intersection itself has become more convenient by eliminating unnecessary U-turns. It is worth noting that the route for turning around on Abdulla Kadiri Street was also shortened in Tashkent previously.
