In Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, a group of schoolchildren organized a protest that forced the administration to rush to the school. The incident occurred at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, where students expressed dissatisfaction with basic learning conditions, food quality, and alleged inappropriate behavior by some teachers.
The situation escalated to the point where the students decided to lock themselves in a classroom. When a video recording of this protest went viral on social media, officials reacted promptly, and the district administrator personally went to the school.
The video, showing the students locked in the classroom, quickly spread across social media, causing widespread public outcry. After the video appeared, the administration began taking action. District Magistrate Ashutosh Mohan Agnihotri arrived at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya with his team.
The school principal held a discussion with the protesting students. The students' complaints regarding issues at the school, including food quality and the behavior of some teachers, were heard. The protest started as a way to convey their grievances to the school management and administration, after which some students barricaded themselves in the classroom.
After a prolonged dialogue, the students agreed to leave the classroom. The administration took note of all the raised issues, especially those related to nutrition and teacher conduct. DM Ashutosh Mohan Agnihotri stated that all raised questions were heard and steps would be taken to resolve them. He assured that the picture would become clearer after an investigation into the situation regarding nutrition, basic facilities, and teacher behavior.
