A tense atmosphere arose in the dormitory of the Home in the Melghat area, Chikhaldara district, Amavati district, Maharashtra, due to rumors of ghosts and supernatural phenomena. Some female students complained about sounds resembling rattles, as well as laughter and crying.
Due to growing fear, many students left the dormitory and returned home. According to parents, a total of 608 students left the dormitory, including 263 male students and 345 female students. The sudden return of the children home caused concern among both the dormitory administration and the parents.
The Director of the Home, Sanjay Choudhary, provided details of what happened. He reported that some female students reported hearing various sounds: some heard the sound of rattles, while others heard laughter and crying. Taking the complaints seriously, the students were taken to the hospital.
According to Sanjay Choudhary, the students underwent a psychiatric examination. After the check-up, the doctor suggested they might have symptoms similar to 'severe hysteria.' The director noted that efforts are being made to alleviate the children's fear through explanations and counseling.
The dormitory administration emphasizes that the current priority is reducing fear among the students. Work is underway to understand the children's mental state so that rumors do not affect their studies and daily lives.
Abhishek Naidu, a local health official from Chikhaldara, appealed to the public not to spread rumors. He clearly stated that linking the incident to ghosts or any supernatural force was inappropriate. In his opinion, it is related to mental health issues, and no other causes have been identified yet.
Abhishek Naidu urged people to avoid spreading rumors and not to panic either the children or their parents. The health department is monitoring the students' condition and conducting medical examinations and counseling as necessary. The medical department aims to provide students with accurate information and dispel their fears. Officials believe it is necessary to view this case from the perspective of medicine and mental health, rather than rumors.
After the information surfaced, a team from the Committee for Eradication of Superstitions arrived at the Home premises. This group held discussions with the students and their parents. The children are being explained that they should not be in an atmosphere of fear and should not trust unconfirmed rumors. The team is also providing counseling to the children.
The administration asserts that no incidents related to ghosts or spirits occurred in the dormitory. Following complaints from some female students, a medical examination was conducted, which revealed possible signs of mental health problems. Subsequently, these rumors intensified the fear among other students.
Currently, teachers, the health department, local administration, and the Committee for Eradication of Superstitions team are working together to calm the students. The administration is making efforts to remove fear from the children's minds and restore a normal environment. A request has been made to people not to spread rumors without facts. The process of medical examination, counseling, and monitoring of the students' mental state continues so that studies are not affected and normal order is restored in the dormitory.
