According to information from the Chinese leak Digital Chat Station (DCS), a new iPhone is being prepared that will be entirely made of glass. Production of displays for this device has reportedly already begun, and it is aimed at Apple's first release in 2027, which could take place between May and June.
The anticipated iPhone 20 Pro would be a commemorative model for the 20th anniversary of the company's first mobile phone release. It would feature the so-called 'infinity display' with curved bezels for the first time. Although the official model name has not been confirmed, there are rumors about adopting a different strategy, similar to what was used with the iPhone X in 2017 when the '9' edition was skipped.
According to 9to5Mac, the smartphone is expected to have borders similar to the Apple Watch, creating the impression of an infinite display, but with a more refined design. It should be noted that before this model's release in September of this year, new iPhone 18 Pro and the company's first foldable gadget are expected to be presented, although the latter does not yet have a specific name.
The device, which might be called the iPhone 20 Pro, could potentially be Apple's first model with curved edges and a design made entirely of glass. This could represent a new iPhone concept to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the smartphone released by Steve Jobs in 2007.
Despite these expectations, recent rumors point in a different direction. One analyst stated that the company found implementing these innovations too complex, but journalist Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, known for his accuracy in predictions, asserted that the project was not canceled.
There is also no consensus regarding a possible new name. Some specialized publications speak of a special name, like the iPhone X, while others view this novelty as a simple update to the Pro line, i.e., the iPhone 19 Pro.
Strong rumors from China suggest that the new iPhone with an infinity display is indeed close to realization. According to Digital Chat Station, the component has already entered the brand's smartphone production chain. This information aligns with reports from another leak, Ice Universe, which also saw details in production. According to them, the screen possesses an 'sophisticated combination' of effects such as light refraction and direction, and also creates a visual illusion of continuity. DCS, for its part, mentions four curved edges and light refraction that, together with the design, create an infinity effect, as if there were no bezels.
