Automobile trade in Uzbekistan has shown a decline for the fourth consecutive month. In the period from January to July 2026, 210,837 cars were sold, which is 7,940 units, or 3.6%, less compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the Association of Automobile Businesses of Uzbekistan (ABA Uzbekistan).
In July, 31,324 cars were sold, which is 4.7% more than in June, but this is almost 30% less than in July 2025.
One of the most noticeable changes in the market is the shift in the share of 'UzAuto Motors' and Chinese brands. The share of 'UzAuto Motors' decreased from 81.5% to 74.6% over the year. At the same time, BYD nearly doubled its share—from 5.6% to 10%.
Overall, the share of Chinese automotive brands in the Uzbek market grew from 11.6% to 17.8%. ADM's share also increased from 11.3% to 12.8%, with sales of Kia, Haval, and Changan models increasing in its portfolio.
Consumer preferences are also changing. Demand for low-bodied sedans with separate trunks is decreasing. Sales of B-class sedans fell from almost 87 thousand to just over 70 thousand over the year, and their market share decreased from 40% to 34%.
Conversely, more buyers are purchasing compact crossovers with higher bodies, greater ground clearance, and an SUV-like appearance. Sales in the B-SUV segment grew from 37.7 thousand to 47.9 thousand, and their market share reached 22.7%.
The Association suggested that this trend may be related to the development of financial products in the automotive market and the increase in the population's purchasing power.

A decree by the head of state has been signed concerning the fundamental improvement of the system for identifying persons affected by human trafficking and their integration into society. These additional measures are aimed at supporting victims of human trafficking.
According to this decree, institutions specializing in providing assistance to victims of human trafficking within the 'Inson' system and the National Agency for Social Protection, as well as non-governmental non-profit organizations, are granted the authority to conduct initial identification of such individuals.
Based on initial identification, the status of a person presumed to be a victim of human trafficking is provided for one month. The status of a recognized victim of human trafficking, established after final identification, is provided for a period of up to one year.
The deadline for the final identification of persons affected by human trafficking is set by regional commissions for combating human trafficking and labor rights within 10 days.
Starting from September 1, 2026, the Agency's trusted hotline '1146' will be launched to receive appeals from victims of human trafficking in Uzbekistan. Specialists will provide them with consultations and information on social, psychological, legal, and other issues.
Trust lines will also be launched in diplomatic and other representations of Uzbekistan abroad, as well as in consular institutions. These lines will provide consultations and information on social, psychological, legal, material, and other issues for victims of human trafficking.
Consultation bureaus for migration will be established at Islam Karimov Tashkent International Airport and Samarkand International Airport, where migration funds will operate using artificial intelligence technologies.
