Gastronomy Festival in Tiradentes Celebrates Minas Gerais and Portuguese Culinary Traditions

A new session of the traditional Culture and Gastronomy Festival kicks off in Tiradentes, once again showcasing dishes developed by renowned chefs in the historic city of Minas Gerais. The twenty-ninth edition of the event will run until the end of the month, concluding on the last Sunday of August, the 30th.

In 2026, the festival will be themed 'Minas Lusitania – A Link Between Cultures,' focusing on the exchange of flavors between Minas Gerais and Portugal through ingredients, spices, and culinary techniques.

This culinary celebration in Tiradentes, considered the oldest open festival outside major Brazilian capitals, recently received recognition from the British magazine Condé Nast Traveller, which named it one of the world's best gastronomic events in December.

Main Events of the Festival

Although the Culture and Gastronomy Festival in Tiradentes offers a wide program for different budgets and tastes, special banquets have garnered the most interest in recent years: exclusive dinners with limited tickets and menus specially created according to the event's theme.

Four such banquets are planned for 2026:

Banquete 1

It will take place on August 21st and will feature chefs Mario Santiago from Paulistano Lena, as well as Christouan Laruso from Mitra and Pastus, based in Belo Horizonte.

Banquete 2

On August 22nd, chef Felipe Ramenh from Tragaluz (located in Tiradentes itself) will coordinate with chef Angelica Salvador, who runs the restaurant In Diferente Restaurante in Porto, Portugal.

Banquete 3

Next week, on the evening of August 28th, chefs Rodolfo Mayer, behind Angatu in Tiradentes, and Patricia Sampaio, responsible for the cuisine of Paulistano A Bela Sintra, will perform.

Banquete 4

The conclusion of the banquets is scheduled for August 29th, uniting the efforts of chefs Gustavo Melo and Mauro de Paula, representing the Fecomércio MG system, as well as chef Tony Salgado, responsible for Tívoli Kopke in Porto, Portugal.

Tickets can be purchased on the Sympla platform for 660 reais per person plus 66 reais in fees. Installment plans up to 12 months are available, and Bradesco clients receive a 10% discount.

Another paid experience, which will resume during the event after gaining many fans in 2025, is Sunset Fartura at the Trindade winery. The gastronomy will be curated by chef Onildo Rocha with guaranteed harmonization with house wines.

However, to enjoy the festival in Tiradentes, it is not necessary to attend the banquets: the open program is once again available, where 40 chefs prepare exquisite dishes for the occasion. Invited restaurants will be located in Santíssimo Square, Largo das Forras, and Rodoviária Square, promising to fully integrate the city map into the journey through Luso-Minas flavors.
