Making Gulab Jamun at home requires following specific steps and using particular ingredients. First, you need to prepare the main components of the dough.
Ingredients
For this dish, you will need one can of condensed milk, one egg, two tablespoons of water, two cups of cake flour, a pinch of salt, three teaspoons of baking powder, a quarter teaspoon of bicarbonate, two tablespoons of ghee, one teaspoon of cardamom powder, one teaspoon of nutmeg powder, and two tablespoons of semolina.
Preparation
First, mix the condensed milk and the egg. Then, add water to an empty condensed milk can, rinse it, and add the resulting liquid to the mixture. This mixture must be well beaten and set aside.
Next, sift one and a half cups of flour along with the baking powder and bicarbonate. Add the cardamom, nutmeg, semolina, and salt to this dry mixture. Then, incorporate the ghee; the mass should resemble breadcrumbs.
Gradually add the mixture made with ghee to the egg-milk base, forming a soft dough. Add the remaining flour in portions. The dough is then shaped into long finger-like forms and slowly fried over medium or low heat. The finished balls are dipped into hot syrup. Optionally, they can be rolled in desiccated coconut.
