In Jharkhand, children are forced to cross a river to attend school, and rains halt education

In the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Hemant Soren addressed student protests, stating that a full investigation would be conducted into all irregularities found in the examinations and that most of the students' demands had been taken into account.

The Minister also sharply criticized the opposition, asserting that some politicians were pursuing this issue solely for political gain. Immediately after his speech, the legislative assembly session was suspended indefinitely; the last scheduled day of the session was August 12, but the session concluded a day earlier.

Several days prior, students and job-seeking youth held protests over alleged irregularities during entrance exams in Jharkhand. On Monday, thousands of students marched to the Legislative Assembly building. A clash occurred between the police and the students during this procession. The police used water cannons and tear gas to contain the crowd. Some students reported injuries sustained from these actions, while the police stated that fourteen officers were injured.

On Tuesday, when the legislative assembly meeting on the matter began, significant disorder erupted in the hall. Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stormed into the hall protesting the beating of students and began chanting slogans against the government. Opposition leader Babalal Marandi demanded an answer from the Chief Minister regarding the alleged violence and assault on students. Due to the chaos, the session had to be postponed multiple times.

In his address, Chief Minister Hemant Soren emphasized that some individuals were using this situation purely for political purposes. He mentioned various statements concerning exams from JPSC to CGL. The Minister assured that all examinations would be checked. He reported that a company from Lucknow, along with some individuals from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, had falsified exams in Jharkhand. Soren stated that the government's intentions regarding the investigation were absolutely clear, and the government would continue its work despite any statements from the BJP.

Criticizing the BJP, the Chief Minister noted that the party had previously used saffron-colored clothing to mislead people and was now doing the same by disguising themselves as students. He also stressed that the government's method of communicating with the protesting students was correct, and the patience shown by both the students and the administration on Monday was unprecedented.

Soren added that most of the students' demands for improving exams had been met, and further improvements would be made considering the remaining requests in the future. He specified that all exams conducted by the company TDPL from Lucknow in Jharkhand would be audited. Furthermore, the government would discuss issues with experts from IIT to ensure higher quality examination conduct in the future.

It should be noted that students have been protesting this issue since July 25. Their main demands include ensuring transparency in entrance exams, improving the functioning of JPSC and JSSC, canceling falsified exams, and conducting an investigation either by the CBI or a committee of retired Supreme Court judges outside of Jharkhand.

A serious traffic jam has once again occurred on the Badrinath-Hemkund tourist route in Joshimath. Long queues of vehicles stretch for many kilometers from the gas station to Mariwadi, including the Zeroband and Marawadi areas. Thousands of pilgrims, local residents, schoolchildren, and kanwadis have been stuck in the traffic jam for over three hours.

The main reason for the congestion is the road widening work being carried out on the section from the gas station to Mariwadi. Construction materials scattered along the road create significant difficulties for vehicle passage. In several places, the road has narrowed, leading to long queues on both sides.

The situation is so tense that transport can barely move forward; as soon as some cars pass, the jam quickly reappears. This hinders normal movement, forcing people to wait a long time for the road to clear. Schoolchildren, pilgrims on the way, local residents, and a large number of kanwadis are experiencing the greatest inconvenience.

After receiving information about the traffic jam, Joshimath police officers arrived at the scene. The police are attempting to normalize traffic flow. However, due to construction work and the constant influx of traffic, the situation remains difficult and requires time to stabilize. According to available information, some vehicles are getting stuck in the mud, and trucks are blocking the road, leading to frequent disruptions in movement. The stalling of one vehicle causes a long queue behind it, which exacerbates the congestion.

The entire area from Zeroband to Mariwadi is currently under pressure from the traffic flow. Thousands of vehicles are stopped on the road, and passengers are waiting for a long time. The police are continuously trying to move the vehicles, but they have not yet managed to completely eliminate the jam. Currently, the situation on the Badrinath-Hemkund route remains difficult, and due to the impact of road works and the continuous increase in people, pilgrims, local residents, schoolchildren, and kanwadis are facing major difficulties.

Student demonstrations have begun in Jharkhand shortly after the NEET protests at Jantar Mantar concluded. Over the past week, students in the region have been protesting alleged irregularities in the JPSC and JSSC exams.

The entire country is paying attention to these student protests in Jharkhand. Actress Sonakshi Sinha was the first to react to the situation from the film world.
