Key highlights from Siemens' first quarter report
Siemens Ltd reported an 18 percent decrease in net profit, amounting to 343 crore rupees for the June quarter. This decline was attributed to volatility in commodity prices and currency fluctuations, as well as increased material costs, which negatively impacted profitability.
However, operating revenue grew to 4,714 crore rupees compared to 4,108 crore rupees the previous year. Furthermore, the volume of new orders increased to 6,328 crore rupees, showing growth compared to 5,431 crore rupees in the last quarter.
Market overview for August 12
The GIFT Nifty indicator signaled a possible moderate start to domestic stock trading on Wednesday. Futures traded six points higher, reaching 24,547, as investors awaited US July Consumer Price Index data.
Asian markets showed mixed performance after the US stock market closed lower the previous day. The South Korean Kospi index rose by 1.94 percent, while the Hong Kong Hang Seng index fell by 1.10 percent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by 0.34 percent, the S&P 500 fell by 0.32 percent, and the Nasdaq Composite corrected by 0.6 percent.
Oil prices continued to rise amid a stalemate regarding the Strait of Hormuz deal. August futures rose by 0.72 percent, reaching $89.55 per barrel, approaching the $90 mark.
