In primary healthcare centers with limited medical staff, measurements are based on quick indicators such as blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation, and temperature. More complex analyses usually require sending samples to a laboratory and waiting for results. For patients traveling from afar, necessary lab tests are often not conducted at all.
In June 2020, an initiative was launched in Indore to consolidate these measurements into one portable device. The founders were Lokant Jain and Sania Jeswani, who were final-year engineering students and began working in the first year of the pandemic.
Their product is called Abhay Parimiti. The company presents it as an AI-integrated medical device that performs automated health assessments in under 60 seconds. It is designed for use by a healthcare worker or the individual themselves, rather than a physician.
The device features a seven-inch screen and is sold for 20,000 rupees. Production is carried out in facilities located in the states of Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
The company describes its platform more broadly, claiming that the system analyzes over 700 bodily parameters and covers cardiovascular and respiratory health. It also includes instant indicators for diagnosing prediabetes, hemoglobin, bilirubin, and anemia. The system is dubbed by the company as the 'digital doctor for India' and the 'world's first multi-disease prediction system.'
Non-invasive measurement of blood biochemistry, glucose, and hemoglobin is an area where many devices have been claimed, but few have demonstrated reliable functionality.
Perkant Tech holds a patent granted in India and has filed a patent application in the United States, although it has not yet been approved by the USPTO. Both patents relate to a device for obtaining data on psychological and physiological stress from the body. None of the broader platform claims, including instant indicators for prediabetes, hemoglobin, bilirubin, and anemia, have been presented in a peer-reviewed study, nor has independent clinical verification been found.
Furthermore, no publicly available source confirms that the device has received approval from the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization, India's medical device regulator. Anyone considering it for clinical use must directly verify its regulatory status with the company.
The company raised ₹6.6 crore in a seed round announced in April 2025. YourNest Venture Capital led the round, investing ₹5 crore. The Atal New India Challenge Fund, operating under NITI Aayog's Atal Innovation Mission, contributed ₹1 crore, while Villgro Foundation provided ₹35 lakh, and SanchiConnect contributed ₹25 lakh through the Velocity YourNest program.
The stated use of funds is for research and development, technology modernization, and preparation for commercial launch following successful pilot projects, according to the company. It also noted that its work aligns with the National Digital Health Mission, a government initiative for standardizing digital health records in India, which is a statement of compatibility, not certification or approval.
In 2023, the company joined the Qualcomm Women Entrepreneurs India Network cohort and presented the device at the opening of Nokia's 6G lab, where it was the only participating startup. According to corporate data, the company employed six employees as of mid-2024.
No new announcements have been made since April 2025. The commercial launch funded by this round has not been announced, and no public information is available regarding customers, implementation, or revenue.
Kaapi Machines, which provides equipment and services for coffee, has successfully raised 50 crore rupees in a share capital round from Sedna HoReCa. Sedna HoReCa is a supplier of solutions for the HoReCa sector—hotels, restaurants, and cafes/catering.
This was the first external funding for the company, which had previously developed through founders' investments. Kaapi Machines serves a wide range of clients, including large cafe chains, hotels, retail stores, corporate clients, and coffee sales enterprises.
The funds raised will be used by the company to expand its product range, strengthen production capacities, improve technological base, and warehouse and service infrastructure. Kaapi Machines' clients include Starbucks, Blue Tokai, McDonald’s, Araku, Subko, Burger King, and Boojee, as well as several specialized coffee shops. The company also collaborates with developing and venture companies such as NBC & AB Coffee and has a growing presence in the hospitality sector, working with brands like ITC Hotels and Oberoi.
Kaapi Machines aims to exceed revenues of 150 crore rupees in the current fiscal year, which spans 2026–27. Abhinav Mathur, Managing Director and CEO of Kaapi Machines, noted that the company started as an importer of international coffee equipment during the transition of Indian coffee from a commodity crop to a consumer product and the emergence of cafe culture. He emphasized that initially, the company collaborated with global leaders to introduce coffee equipment in India and provide after-sales service, which has always been its core business.
However, about two years ago, the company began exploring partnership opportunities with global brands to manufacture products directly in India. As a result of these partnerships, some have matured, and the company has begun local assembly of certain international products.
Going forward, Kaapi Machines intends to maintain its focus on the B2B HoReCa segment, continuing to invest in production, localization, and product innovation. Mathur expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with the Sedna team, noting that amid the growth and increased organization of the HoReCa industry, the company seeks to enhance its capabilities to offer customers new and advanced products, technologies, and solutions.
For his part, Saurabh Pandey, Managing Director of Sedna HoReCa, commented on the partnership, calling it a 'highly synergistic addition to Sedna's capabilities,' given Kaapi Machines' deep industry expertise, brand capital, and pan-Indian service network serving the fast-growing category. He added that this strengthens Sedna's vision of creating the most comprehensive B2B platform for the food service ecosystem in India.
