Godrej Consumer Products Limited (GCPL) has appointed Aasif Malbari as its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer with immediate effect, following the departure of Sudhir Sitapati.
Previously, Malbari held the position of Global Finance Director and President of Godrej Africa within the company. He possesses thirty years of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods and automotive industries. Furthermore, he served as a Finance Director at Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and a Director at Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, where he played a key role in significant business expansion, including reorganization and securing $1 billion in funding in the electric vehicle sector. Prior to this, his career included roles in various financial and business capacities at Hindustan Unilever.
The company reported in a stock exchange filing that 'Aasif has ensured outstanding transformation of GCPL's business in Africa. The business has rapidly expanded its profitable FMCG portfolio, led by the successful launch of our air care category, while strengthening the traditional hair care business. This has led to a significant growth in EBITDA margin, from 9 percent in the 2024 fiscal year to 15 percent in the 2026 fiscal year.'
Nisaba Godrej, Executive Chairman of GCPL, noted: 'As Global Finance Director, Aasif has a deep understanding of GCPL's strategic and operational rhythm. He also led the outstanding transformation of our African business, and I believe this is exactly the ambitious, disciplined executive approach that GCPL needs across all our enterprises for the next chapter. Aasif is guided by humility and integrity, and the Board of Directors and I have complete confidence in him to accelerate GCPL's growth alongside our very strong team.'
Nisaba Godrej also thanked Sitapati for his bold thinking over the past five years. In his farewell letter, Sitapati stated that leading GCPL was one of the most rewarding experiences of his career. He wrote: 'I feel that the task I set for myself here is accomplished, and now is the right time to move on. I am tendering my resignation effective August 11. I will be happy to fully support my successor during this transition period.'
Vishal Kedia has been appointed as the interim Finance Director. He has been with the Godrej Group since November 2016 and currently heads global strategy, financial planning and analysis, and investor relations functions at GCPL.
