MRF Ltd reports 1.3% decrease in net profit for the first quarter to 495.35 crore rupees

JK Tyre & Industries announced a significant decline in consolidated net profit by 73% in the first quarter ending June 20, 2026. The profit amounted to ₹44.09 crore, which sharply contrasts with the figure of ₹163.35 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.

According to the report, consolidated revenue from operations in the quarter reached ₹3,946.24 crore, an increase compared to ₹3,868.94 crore for the same period last year. However, total expenses were higher, amounting to ₹3,912.75 crore, compared to ₹3,695.08 crore a year earlier.

Specifically, the cost of raw materials rose to ₹3,036.51 crore, up from ₹2,266.69 crore last year. Raghupathy Singhania, Head of JK Tyre & Industries, noted that the ongoing crisis in the Middle East caused a sharp rise in raw material prices, negatively impacting the company's gross and operating margins.

Singhania emphasized that about 70 percent of raw materials for the tire industry are based on petroleum products, making the sector highly sensitive to fluctuations in oil prices. Nevertheless, he also reported that the company maintains stable results in the first quarter of the 27th fiscal year due to strong demand across all segments.

He attributed this success to a focus on customer orientation, product excellence, and disciplined execution in the markets. During the reporting period, domestic volumes grew by 25% year-on-year, covering both the replacement market (growth of 12%) and the Original Equipment (OE) market (growth of 42%), while the contribution of higher value-added products increased.

Jindal Stainless Ltd announced a year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit by 7.6%, reaching INR 769 crore in the June quarter, driven by increased revenue. In the same quarter last year, the company recorded a net profit of INR 715 crore, according to the report filed with the stock exchange.

The company's operating revenue grew by 10.5% year-over-year (YoY), amounting to INR 11,279 crore in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, compared to INR 10,207 crore for the April-June period of the previous fiscal year. As of the end of June, the company's consolidated net debt reached INR 2,950 crore.

Abhidhuday Jindal, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, noted that the company's results remained resilient despite an extremely dynamic operating environment characterized by supply chain disruptions and changing global trade conditions.

The company reported that in the initial weeks of the quarter, there were disruptions in the supply of industrial gases due to a crisis in West Asia. The company's management proactively mitigated this impact by increasing the use of liquefied natural gas to compensate for the limited availability of propane and LNG.

Despite the measures taken to address the issues, the company had to temporarily reduce production across all manufacturing units. Nevertheless, the company reported sales of finished products amounting to 580,805 metric tons in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027 and maintained healthy financial growth through sustained activity in the value-added product segment.

Export business remained stable amid the complex global situation. A diversified portfolio of markets, which includes expanding opportunities in South Korea, Japan, and Brazil, as well as a constant presence in Europe and the US, helped keep exports at 11% of total sales.

During the media call, Jindal emphasized the need to control growing imports from certain countries, particularly China. He stated that such import flows create challenges for domestic investment amidst rising demand for stainless steel in India, and called on the government not to extend Quality Control Orders (QCOs).

The statement noted that the company's strong performance was driven by steady demand in key end-use sectors, including transportation, infrastructure, manufacturing, and consumer sectors. The automotive segment continued to be a strong growth driver, and volumes of special grades also increased in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. Furthermore, healthy sales growth was observed in the consumer goods and metro projects segments during the quarter, while demand from the railway sector remained constant. The company also received orders for specialized grades of stainless steel for the energy and oil and gas sectors.

Muthoot Finance, a gold loan NBFC, announced on Saturday a significant increase in its consolidated profit by 43%, reaching ₹2,825 crore for the first quarter ending June 2026.

In the corresponding quarter last year, the company's profit was ₹1,974 crore. According to the report submitted to regulatory authorities, total income for the quarter under review grew to ₹8,695 crore compared to ₹6,485 crore in the April to June quarter of the financial year 2026.

Meanwhile, total expenses increased to ₹4,898 crore, whereas they were ₹3,812 crore in the first quarter of the previous financial year. Furthermore, the company's assets under management grew by 43%, reaching ₹191,532 crore compared to ₹133,938 crore the previous year for the same period.

The Board of Directors also recommended appointing Alexander George as the Managing Director of the company from October 1, 2026. This appointment is subject to approval by shareholders at the upcoming general meeting of shareholders. The Board of Directors also approved the proposal to promote K. R. Bijimon to the position of Chief Executive Officer effective October 1, 2026.

The current Managing Director, George Alexander Muthoot, will transition to the role of Executive Vice Chairman. In this new capacity, George Alexander Muthoot will continue to lead the organization, mentor the next generation of leaders, and ensure strategic direction as the Company enters a new phase of growth.

Additionally, the Board of Directors approved an additional investment of ₹32 crore in Asia Asset Finance PLC through a rights issue conducted by Asia Asset Finance PLC itself.
