As anticipation grows for the release of the newest iPhone 18 model, some users hope for a price drop on the previous model, the iPhone 17, which typically happens after a new device launches. However, one rumor suggests this will no longer occur.
The well-known and often reliable leak source Fixed Focus Digital posted a message on Weibo in August claiming that 'rumors are circulating that the price of the iPhone 17 will increase.'
Although the source of this rumor was not specified, Fixed Focus Digital has previously demonstrated a positive track record of predictions, lending some additional credibility to this rumor among users who consider it well-informed.
While a price hike would be unexpected, it is not impossible. One commentator suggested: 'It wouldn't be surprising if they raised the prices on the 17; it's surprising they haven't yet! I suppose they might be planning to keep the price of the 17 the same, since that would be a new $100 price drop after the 18 goes on sale at $100 higher?'
The same commentator added: 'There's no reason to raise the price of the 17 three weeks before it should be lowered, as it is last year's model.' Many are wondering whether a potential price increase will affect all iPhone 17 models or only specific ones.
