Apple is reportedly preparing a significant transformation of its Apple Watch line, aiming to align with new trends observed in the wearable device industry. This information was disclosed by journalist Mark Gurman, who works for the agency Bloomberg.
The Cupertino giant is already conducting tests on future releases, focusing specifically on the Apple Watch Series 12 and the Watch Ultra 4. The new features are scheduled to be unveiled during the company's main annual event, which is expected to take place in early September 2026. This event would also mark the debut of John Ternus as the new CEO.
According to leaks, one of the planned changes includes the exclusion of a new Apple Watch SE launch this year. This decision could have a direct impact on sales, as this model often serves as an entry point for many consumers into the company's watch ecosystem. Although the manufacturer maintains the possibility of introducing more affordable options in the future, removing this model would create space for competition in the lowest price range.
In addition to simplifying its portfolio, Apple has spent the last few months exploring innovative visual approaches. In his Power On newsletter, Gurman compared this future update to the 'revolutionary design change' expected for the first foldable iPhone. The company has been closely monitoring the market for minimalist fitness bands and the growth of smart rings.
Among the proposed developments is a screenless fitness tracker, intended for users who desire constant monitoring without the interruptions caused by a wrist display. The traditional square format was also considered, with the possibility of testing versions featuring a round screen and different display sizes, although Gurman considers it unlikely that a device with a circular display will reach the public anytime soon.
In the high-end segment, Apple could develop variants positioned above the Ultra and Hermès editions. This move would be complemented by the relaunch of the ceramic case and the introduction of a new proprietary system for attaching straps. The brand will also invest in AI-powered functionalities and modifications to the Health app, in addition to presenting its first processor since 2023.
These innovations are set to be revealed at Apple's next official event, scheduled for September 8 or 9. This presentation would be led by the announcement of the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. Recent leaks indicate that the most advanced models may be launched at even higher prices, reflecting a general adjustment of values that already affects several of the company's products.
To formalize John Ternus's start as manager, the manufacturer will take the opportunity to officially launch the highly anticipated foldable iPhone. Expected to have an initial price in the range of US$ 2,000 (approximately R$ 10 thousand at the current exchange rate), the device aims to compete with established rivals, such as Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold, initiating a new phase in the company's trajectory.
