According to the estimate from the Automobile Club of Portugal (ACP), diesel prices are expected to decrease by 12 cents and gasoline prices by 12.5 cents in the following week, assuming the current trend continues.
Considering the current values released by the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG) and projections based on Thursday's closing market values, the average price of simple diesel should reach 1.931 euros per liter, while that of simple gasoline 95 should drop to 1.855 euros per liter.
It is important to note that the final value will only be consolidated at the end of the day, being subject to changes depending on the evolution of international oil quotations. Furthermore, the final cost at the station may vary depending on the brand, location, and fueling station.
The change in the discount on the Tax on Petroleum Products (ISP) also has the potential to modify the predicted values. The Government established a commitment to implement an extraordinary and temporary reduction in the ISP whenever an increase in fuel prices exceeding 10 cents is detected, aiming to mitigate the rise in costs.
Fuel prices experienced a drop after an initial increase caused by the war in Iran, geopolitical instability in the Middle East, and the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. However, with the resumption of the conflict, the last few weeks have been characterized by a sharp rise, a trend that is expected to be reversed next week.
