Due to market competition, Jeep has started selling the Renegade Altitude 2027, the entry-level version of the SUV, for R$124,990. This price represents a reduction of R$17,000 compared to the original list price of R$141,990. This special condition is valid exclusively for cash payments, requires the vehicle to be in Carbon black color and without any additional options, and is available on the manufacturer's website for orders placed between August 5th and September 2nd, or while stock is reserved for this campaign.
This move diverges from what the manufacturer itself had previously communicated. When the 2027 line was launched in March, the initial price of R$129,990 was presented as a promotion limited to the first 3,000 units, with a projected increase to R$141,990 afterward. However, four months after the launch, the Renegade maintained its price 12% below what had been projected.
The discount arises in an automotive segment that has considerably fragmented. In July, Fenabrave data indicated that the Volkswagen Taigun took the lead among SUVs with 10,165 units sold, representing a 9.4% increase compared to June. It was followed by the T-Cross (7,070 units) and the Hyundai Creta (5,880 units). Other vehicles that showed progress include the GWM Haval H6, with 5,673 registrations and a notable growth of 43.9%, the Toyota Yaris Cross (5,036), and the Fiat Fastback (4,849).
In this competitive scenario, the Renegade registered sales of 2,934 units, placing it only in the 33rd position in the overall ranking. Besides pressure within the traditional segment, there is strong competition from compact Chinese electric vehicles, whose entry-level versions cost around R$120 thousand. The BYD Dolphin Mini ranked as the sixth best-selling car in the country in July, with 7,265 units, and the Geely EX2 rose from 17th to ninth place, reaching 5,898 sales. This month marked the first time three electric cars entered the top ten best-sellers.
In terms of specifications, the 2027 Renegade, presented in March, received aesthetic improvements, such as a redesigned dashboard inspired by the larger Compass and Commander models, in addition to a 10-inch multimedia center and dedicated air vents for rear seat passengers. The mechanics remained similar, using the 1.3 turboflex T270 engine, capable of generating up to 176 hp and 27.5 kgfm, coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission. There is also the option of mild hybrid versions, which provide approximately 10% fuel economy. All-wheel drive and the nine-speed transmission were reserved only for the Willys version.
This offer comes at a strategic moment, as Jeep is preparing for the commercial launch of the Avenger, a new entry-level SUV from the brand. This model will be produced in Porto Real (RJ) and will have a positioning below the Renegade, featuring 22 cm less in length and equipped with a 1.0 turboflex engine of 116 hp, complemented by a 12-volt mild hybrid system.
