Smart, the result of the partnership between Mercedes-Benz and Geely, has introduced the renewed version of its compact electric SUV, the #1, in China. This new model features an 800-volt platform and has a charging capability that allows the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes, a strategy adopted by the brand to consolidate its position in one of the most competitive local markets.
There are two configurations available: the 535 Max, priced at 152,900 yuan (equivalent to about R$ 115 thousand), and the 535 Ultra, valued at 172,900 yuan (approximately R$ 130 thousand). During the launch offer, the prices are reduced to 149,900 yuan (about R$ 113 thousand) for the Max and 169,900 yuan (about R$ 128 thousand) for the Ultra.
The SUV dimensions are 4.27 meters long, 1.82 meters wide, 1.64 meters high, and have a wheelbase of 2.75 meters. The manufacturer states that more than 200 improvements have been implemented compared to the previous model, with the silicon carbide 800-volt architecture now standard across the entire line. This technology is complemented by a traction unit that consolidates 16 components into a single assembly. The previous generation used 400 volts, which put it at a disadvantage in terms of charging speed compared to competitors.
The rear motor generates 333 horsepower and 32.6 kgfm of torque, allowing the SUV to reach 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. It is equipped with a 61.52 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, providing an autonomy of 535 km under the Chinese CLTC cycle. The 12 minutes of fast charging are made possible by up to 6C charging.
The Ultra version includes the most complete driver assistance package as standard, featuring LiDAR installed on the roof, the Nvidia Orin Y chip, and the G-ASD H5 system developed by Geely. This set covers 31 sensing components and a processing capacity of up to 200 TOPS, enabling assisted driving with navigation on both roads and urban areas, without dependence on high-definition maps. In the 535 Max, this package can be purchased as an option for 14,000 yuan (about R$ 10.5 thousand) during the launch promotion, representing half of the original cost.
Regarding the interior, the new features include a 15.4-inch multimedia screen with 2.5K resolution, operating with the Flyme Auto system, derived from Smart OS, alongside a 10.2-inch instrument cluster. Furthermore, the SUV has the functionality to provide electrical power to external devices or another vehicle, with a capacity of up to 6 kW in both scenarios. Smart also announced five launch benefits totaling over 25,000 yuan (approximately R$ 19 thousand), including discounts on the final payment and 19-inch wheels at half price.
