The Migration Service reported that the first ten citizens of Uzbekistan have been selected to participate in seasonal agricultural work in France as part of a pilot project. This project is being implemented in collaboration with the National Federation of Agricultural Unions of France (FNSEA).
It was planned to hire ten workers for employment in the departments of Rhône and Maine-et-Loire. Applications began in June, after which candidates underwent preliminary selection. On July 1, representatives of French employers conducted online interviews with the applicants, and subsequently, ten future seasonal workers were chosen.
Six participants have already received work visas and are expected to arrive in France in August. They will be engaged in fruit picking and sorting. The remaining four candidates will travel to France in the autumn to participate in vegetable harvesting during the season.
This group will be the first from Uzbekistan sent to France under an organized program for attracting seasonal workers. The Migration Service noted that the results of this pilot project may contribute to the further expansion of cooperation with French employers and the creation of new jobs for Uzbek citizens.
According to the National Committee on Statistics, 7,749,308 foreign citizens visited tourist destinations in Uzbekistan from January to July 2026. This figure demonstrates an increase of 1.4 million people, which is a 22.6% growth compared to the same period in 2025.
The largest number of tourists arrived from Kyrgyzstan—2,177,108 people. This is followed by Kazakhstan with 1,855,562 visitors and Tajikistan, which attracted 1,728,978 tourists.
During these seven months, 710,824 tourists visited Uzbekistan from Russia. A significant flow of guests also arrived from Afghanistan (281,200 people) and China (269,735 people).
Turkmenistan ranked seventh among the donor countries with 192,830 tourists, and 111,908 people came from Turkey. Additionally, India (32,462 tourists) and the Republic of Korea (26,512 tourists) were among the top ten countries for tourist arrivals from January to July.
