UAE Oil Company Announces New Investments to Bypass Strait of Hormuz

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the incident, which it characterized as an Iranian missile attack on a tanker belonging to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) while transiting the Strait of Hormuz. It was confirmed that no one was injured.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a release distributed by the UAE's state news agency (WAM) that this attack is a clear violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817. This resolution guarantees freedom of navigation and prohibits attacks on commercial vessels or interference with international sea routes.

The Ministry accused Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of using the Strait of Hormuz as a tool for political and economic coercion. The attack on commercial shipping was described as piracy threatening regional security, stability, and global oil supplies.

The UAE demanded that Iran immediately cease such attacks and completely halt all hostile actions, as well as open the Strait of Hormuz without preconditions. The Emirates warned that further disruptions could jeopardize the global economy and international trade.

Qatar condemns the attack

Qatar also expressed its condemnation of the report regarding the missile strike, calling it a serious violation of international law, freedom of navigation, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in its release that it 'rejects any attempts to use the Strait of Hormuz as a political lever' and called for the swift and unconditional resumption of traffic through this vital waterway.

The Ministry emphasized that freedom of navigation through the strait is a fundamental principle that cannot be violated, and that its continued closure would endanger the vital interests of Gulf countries, as well as the global economy. Furthermore, Qatar affirmed its full solidarity with the UAE and support for any steps taken by Abu Dhabi to protect its assets.

Earlier, ADNOC confirmed that one of its vessels was hit by a missile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz early Saturday morning. The business company added that the crew was unharmed, and the situation was promptly brought under control by the authorities.
