The negotiations took place in the city of Ahmadabad, India. A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade Laziz Kudratov, met with the leaders of the Adani Group. Azimjon Akhmadjanov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC 'O‘zbekgidroenergo', also participated in the discussion.
Gautam Adani, founder of the Adani Group, emphasized the scale of reforms underway in Uzbekistan's hydropower sector, the industry's investment potential, and the conditions being created for foreign investors.
The parties discussed the implementation of modern technologies in hydropower, the construction of new energy facilities, and the realization of investment projects. Special attention was paid to the prospects of building new hydroelectric and pumped-storage power plants in Uzbekistan, with Adani stating its readiness to participate in such projects.
Furthermore, during the meetings, the role of hydropower in expanding Uzbekistan's green energy potential, ensuring the stability of the energy system, and the efficient use of renewable energy sources was examined. At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation in developing partnership mechanisms for projects and jointly preparing and implementing investment initiatives.
An additional investment of $70 million has been planned in Uzbekistan to increase the computing capabilities required for advancing artificial intelligence projects. These funds will be allocated both for upgrading the existing cluster and for creating entirely new infrastructure.
The issue of developing computing resources was raised during a presentation attended by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, where current achievements and future tasks for building an AI ecosystem in the country were discussed.
Currently, a supercomputing complex operates in Uzbekistan, located in the 'Digital Government' data center. This complex is based on technologies from the American company NVIDIA and ranks 321st in the global power rating.
Since its launch, the system has demonstrated significant demand for computing resources: in the first month of operation, the cluster load reached 90%, confirming the high need for such capacities for both state and commercial initiatives.
Previously, a computing infrastructure worth $24 million was launched in the country. Further expansion of this base is planned through new investments, as well as the implementation of joint projects with foreign partners. The creation of data centers in Karakalpakstan is being considered as a promising direction.
To ensure the effective operation of AI systems, not only the volume of computing power but also the quality of the data used is critical. Therefore, ministries and agencies have been instructed to conduct a full inventory of available information, verify its accuracy and completeness, and organize data integration between different systems.
Furthermore, specialized industry datasets are planned to be formed, which will serve as the basis for developing and implementing AI solutions in the fields of economy and social life.
Additionally, it was previously reported that large-scale digitalization of the water supply system in Uzbekistan had begun. A unified electronic platform displaying all water infrastructure projects and groundwater data is scheduled to become operational in September 2026. A new position of deputy chairman of the board, responsible for implementing AI and digitalization, will be established at Uzsuvtaʼminot JSC.
