Parking companies in Abu Dhabi and Dubai have signed an agreement to standardize services and integrate their smart parking systems across both emirates.
The agreement outlines a roadmap for joint projects, including pilot initiatives that will utilize artificial intelligence, data analysis, and other digital tools to manage parking occupancy, forecast demand, and improve service quality and operational efficiency.
The two operators also plan to explore opportunities for exchanging technical expertise and data in accordance with current regulations and data protection rules, as well as ways to strengthen management and more effectively utilize existing parking infrastructure.
Q Mobility is a leading public parking operator in Abu Dhabi, while Parkin holds the position of the largest provider of public parking facilities and services in Dubai.
Mohammed Hussain Karmastaji, CEO of Q Mobility, characterized this partnership as a step towards smarter and more interconnected mobility in both emirates. He noted that this will help increase convenience for residents and visitors while strengthening the links between the two parking ecosystems.
Engineer Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali, CEO of Parkin, called this agreement a strategic achievement for the UAE parking sector. He emphasized that it unites two of the largest public parking operators in the country. According to him, parking is increasingly viewed as part of a broader urban mobility ecosystem rather than as a standalone service, and the cooperation aims to create a data-driven intelligent parking platform.
Parkonic has started managing a ticketless paid parking system at the Wafi Mall in Dubai. Payments for drivers will be made automatically through their Salik accounts.
The new system allows visitors to pay for parking in two ways: by scanning a QR code located near the facility signs, or if payment was not made, the amount will be debited from the Salik account upon exit.
As soon as a resident enters the mall's parking lot, the vehicle's license plate is scanned and serves as a digital ticket, eliminating the need for physical tickets.
Paid services are available from Monday to Sunday, as well as on public holidays. Tariffs are set as follows: after a two-hour interval of the next session, three additional free hours are provided during the same day.
Furthermore, if a visitor re-enters Wafi Mall after three hours of free parking, they will be considered a new entry and will not again be entitled to free parking after a two-hour waiting period.
It is important to note that cash payments are not accepted and there are no parking meters at this location. Vehicles used for loading and unloading operations are entitled to an additional hour of free parking upon confirmation.
Visitors who have not paid the applicable parking fees may face fines, being placed on a blacklist, and/or legal proceedings. Those without a Salik account or insufficient balance must use an alternative payment method before exiting.
Recently, the parking operator began managing paid parking in West Yas Plaza, Yas Bay, and Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, as well as at selected Choithrams network locations across the UAE, Discovery Gardens in Dubai, and Palm Jumeirah Crescent.
