In the village of Sivaya, located on the Delhi-Dehradun highway in Merate, a unique example of humanity and interfaith agreement occurred on Sunday. When a procession carrying the body of a man who died of a heart attack headed to the cemetery, pilgrims stopped and made way for the funeral cortege.
This incident, captured on video and going viral on social media, happened after the sudden death of 40-year-old Nizam, a resident of Sivaya village, from a heart attack. After his passing, relatives began transporting the body for burial, heading to the cemetery located on the other side of the Delhi-Dehradun highway.
At that time, the final stages of a pilgrimage were taking place on the highway, and a large number of Shiva followers were moving continuously. This created a difficult situation for the family trying to get the procession across the busy highway.
Police officers from the Dourala police station arrived at the scene. However, as the procession approached the highway, the attending pilgrims realized the situation. As a result, some pilgrims immediately stepped forward, deciding to stop other pilgrims and create a passage for the funeral cortege.
The pilgrims formed a kind of human chain and temporarily paused the movement of the pilgrimage procession on the highway. Thousands of people peacefully stopped on the road. They remained standing until Nizam's coffin safely crossed the highway and headed to the cemetery. After the procession passed, the pilgrimage resumed, and they continued their journey chanting 'Hara Hara Mahadeva.'
This situation once again demonstrated that humanity and brotherhood stand above religion and faith.
