This case highlights the significance of science, which is often underestimated in journalism because scientific knowledge does not always generate as much interest as other topics.

Numerous news reports inform about upcoming events, the best places for observation, and necessary precautions. Last Saturday, the newspaper Público featured an interesting article by Filipe Almeida Mendes explaining that after the solar eclipse, the Perseids will conclude their celebration with a 'natural fireworks display.' A visible planetary alignment is also expected.
Astronomer Maximo Ferreira pointed out that the Perseids appear when 'the Earth passes through a region of space where there are more solid particles, similar to sand left by comets.'
