The Jharkhand state legislative assembly is in session, during which students began a demonstration in Ranchi, approaching the parliament building regarding the JPSC issue. Despite the installation of police barriers, students attempted to reach the complex grounds via alternative routes. It is reported that the demonstrators managed to penetrate the legislative assembly premises through several sections.
The protest also took place directly on the ground inside the complex, where students staged a sit-in strike. During this event, independent MLA Jayram Mahto left the legislative assembly and joined the students, stating that he supports them and will raise their demands both within parliament and on the streets.
Upon Jayram Mahto's appearance among the students, they welcomed him warmly. A scene was also recorded where students tried to enter the complex grounds through the back route, despite reinforced security at the front.
Student movement leader Devendra Nath Mahto accused the government of inviting chaos. He stated: 'I myself could not stop myself. I eat mad-bhath and dry bread, and after this protest, I will say the same thing. Nothing will change in my life. The barbed wire that stopped us caused more pain in my heart than the hunger strike. Today is the minister's birthday, and I do not want the government to do anything for the birthday that would cause someone to bleed. We want peace. Let the government not create chaos. I will not break the fast.'
The students managed to break six out of seven barriers installed to secure the legislative assembly. It was noted that the demonstrators overcame the sixth barrier and were moving towards the last one. It was assumed that if this barrier were also broken, they would proceed directly to the legislative assembly. It is reported that the students are currently continuing their strike on the complex grounds, but the police have reportedly begun to push them out.
Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari stated: 'We are on the side of the students. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is striking from behind. BJP must remain within decency. No one will be worse than us.'
In response to accusations that certain ministers of the Jharkhand government are behind the student movement, BJP MLA Dr. Nishikant Dubey replied: 'Does this mean that the BJP is behind everything? When demonstrations took place at Jantar Mantar, we never said that the Congress or Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was behind it.'
Nishikant Dubey added: 'We support this movement. We demand an investigation by the CBI into this matter and the alleged JPSC violations. Resignations also took place today. I always said that JPSC members were activists of JMM and associated with the Congress. Congress, JMM, and RJD have committed injustice against the students of Jharkhand.'
Thus, the student protests in Ranchi during the legislative assembly session continuously intensified. This protest continued amid the breaking of barriers, the arrival of students on the complex grounds, the support of Jayram Mahto, the sharp statements of Devendra Nath Mahto, and mutual accusations between politicians regarding the JPSC.
