With the start of the Sawan season, the Kawand pilgrimage continues across the country. Millions of Shiva devotees travel from different states to Haridwar and other religious sites. During this time, a video recorded at a railway station, showing a tense dispute between a conductor (TTE) and some Kawand pilgrims during a ticket check, is actively circulating on social media.
During the video recording, the conductor demands that passengers present their tickets. In response, some pilgrims claim that they do not need tickets because, in their opinion, the government has made train travel free for Kawand pilgrims during Sawan. The conductor strongly disagrees with this assertion.
Citing railway rules, the conductor states that in addition to the fare, those traveling without a ticket will be fined 500 rupees. This escalates the argument between both sides, and a crowd of onlookers gathers around.
The video shows the conductor checking tickets and informing the pilgrims about the necessity of paying the fare and a 500 rupee fine for traveling without a ticket. Some pilgrims insist that the Yogi government has made train travel free for Kawand pilgrims, so they cannot be asked for tickets. When the conductor asks them where the official order regarding this is, the situation heats up. Subsequently, some pilgrims are heard expressing dissatisfaction in the video, saying that this TTE is interfering in their affairs and that they 'take no tickets, nor anything.'
After the video went viral, various reactions appeared online. Some people noted that railway rules apply equally to all passengers, and travel without a ticket cannot be permitted. Other users questioned why an official order regarding free travel for Kawand pilgrims was not publicized if such a system exists.
Although the viral video contains such a statement, neither Indian Railways nor the Uttar Pradesh government has publicly released an official directive announcing completely free train travel for all Kawand pilgrims as of yet. Therefore, this claim has not received independent confirmation.
The date, location of filming, and statements made in this viral video have not been independently verified. This news will be updated as soon as any official confirmations or new information on this matter becomes available.
