GIFT Nifty signaled a moderate opening for Nifty50. Most Asian markets showed growth.
According to data from Monday, August 10, 2026, GIFT Nifty predicted a sluggish start to trading amid uncertainty related to a potential deal between the US and Iran regarding the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Futures traded at 24,655 points, unchanged.
Asian markets posted gains in early trading on Monday, continuing the upward trend observed on Wall Street last week. Japan's Nikkei 225 and South Korea's Kospi rose by 1.46% and 0.65%, respectively.
Last week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 closed higher by 0.28% and 0.62%, respectively, while the Nasdaq Composite showed a gain of 1.30%.
Oil prices increased amid uncertainty concerning a possible agreement between the US and Iran. Iran stated that it is in the final stages of negotiating a deal with Oman to manage the Strait of Hormuz. However, passage through this vital waterway will only be possible upon fulfillment of other conditions by the US. August futures traded at $84.75, up 1.44%.
Gold and silver futures declined by 0.53% and 0.19%, respectively.

Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) of Dhoot Transmission and Molbio Diagnostics will open for subscription on Monday. These companies plan to raise ₹3,066.89 crore and ₹939.70 crore, respectively. Additionally, the IPOs of LEAP India and Technocraft Ventures will open on the second day of subscription, valued at ₹251.88 crore and ₹2,480 crore.
US Stock Futures Decline
US stock futures fell during Asian trading hours due to ongoing uncertainty regarding the US-Iran deal on the opening of the Strait of Hormuz. Dow Jones and S&P 500 futures traded down by 0.16% and 0.03%, respectively.
Last week, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 closed higher by 0.28% and 0.62%, respectively, while the Nasdaq Composite showed a gain of 1.30%.
