The Geely EX2 Max has caught the attention of automotive industry specialists, being recognized as the best-selling model in China during the first half of this year, the largest global market.
This mid-sized hatchback features notable characteristics, including two luggage compartments. Its manufacturing in Brazil is planned by the end of this year, utilizing the Renault plant in Paraná under a piece-by-piece import regime, which goes beyond a simple CKD process.
Its design is considered pleasant, although it does not stand out significantly on public roads, which are increasingly filled with modern SUVs and crossovers. However, the wheel and rear pillar design deserves special mention.
To activate the engine, the driver must press the brake pedal. The vehicle can be driven forward or backward simply by moving the small lever on the center console from 'P' to 'D' or 'R' and accelerating. Upon disembarking, the system automatically returns to 'P' after the door is opened.
The interior features charming decoration, presenting stylized and illuminated building designs on the front door sills and along the entire dashboard. The number of physical buttons is reduced. A strong point is the 540-degree cameras, which offer excellent resolution.
The multimedia screen, measuring 14.7 inches, is larger than those found in other compact cars. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay but requires connection exclusively via cable through the USB-A port, which is becoming obsolete. To connect a second mobile device, there are options for inductive charging and USB-C.
The driver's seat has electric adjustment, and the legroom in the back seat exceeds the average for compact cars by ten centimeters. Because the engine is positioned on the rear axle, the vehicle has a second trunk located at the front, with a capacity of 70 liters, totaling 461 liters.
The vehicle dimensions are: length of 4,135 mm, wheelbase of 2,650 mm, width of 1,805 mm (2,005 mm with mirrors), and height of 1,580 mm. The volumes are 391 liters for the main trunk and 70 liters for the front one. Its mass is 1,300 kg, and the battery has a capacity of 39.4 kWh. The engine generates 116 hp of power and 15.3 kgf·m of torque. The average range certified by Inmetro is 289 km, with rear-wheel drive. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 10.2 seconds.
Like any electric vehicle, operational silence and lack of vibrations are positive aspects. The steering offers appropriate firmness, and the flat floor provides comfort to rear passengers. The performance is good, without the tendency towards ostentation seen in other electric vehicles. However, the driving experience depends on the pace and type of road, requiring constant attention to range and charging network restrictions.
