According to data from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in Lucknow, the monsoon season in Uttar Pradesh shows no signs of weakening. It is forecasted that on August 10, rain, thunderstorms, and short-duration precipitation will be observed in several districts of both western and eastern divisions, with heavy rains possible in some areas.
The daily meteorological report from IMD dated August 9 indicates a high probability of rainfall with thunderstorms in certain parts of western and eastern Uttar Pradesh, as well as a warning of heavy rains in both divisions.
According to the meteorological service forecasts, precipitation is expected in many places in districts such as Saharpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Baghpat, Meerut, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Shravasti, Balrampur, Sitapur, Gonda, Siddharthnagar, Barabanki, Lucknow, Unnao, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Kannauj, and Auraiya.
Continued rain with thunderstorms is also expected in several districts of the eastern and central parts of Uttar Pradesh. These include Jalaun, Jansi, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Banda, Fatehpur, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Bhadohi, Mirzapur, and Chandauli. Furthermore, the probability of precipitation is forecast almost everywhere in Lalitpur and Sonbhadra.
IMD has issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall for the following districts: Saharpur, Muzaffarnagar, Baghpat, Meerut, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jansi, Lalitpur, Banda, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Mirzapur, and Sonbhadra. There is a possibility of heavy rains in these districts.
According to the meteorological service, over the last day, localized light or moderate rains were recorded in both divisions—eastern and western. A thunderstorm was also observed in western Uttar Pradesh. The highest amount of precipitation, 5 centimeters, was recorded in Takha, Itawa district. 2 centimeters of rain were recorded in Mahoba and Kannauj.
Partly cloudy skies are expected in Lucknow and surrounding areas, with light rain and thunderstorms possible in the evening or at night. The maximum temperature is predicted to be around 33°C, and the minimum around 28°C.
The meteorological service advised farmers to arrange for drainage in fields in advance. It was also recommended to avoid open fields, trees, and electric poles during thunderstorms.
Residents are advised to avoid flooded roads, postpone unnecessary travel, and not be in open areas during lightning strikes. Drivers should account for slipperiness and reduced visibility.
Overall, the monsoon is expected to remain active across Uttar Pradesh on August 10, and the period of intense rainfall will continue in many districts.
