Ghafour Kargari, President of the Iranian National Paralympic Committee, visited the women's national para-taekwondo training camp at the Iran Taekwondo House. During the visit, he met with Hadi Afshar, Secretary of the Iranian Taekwondo Federation.
The head coach of the women's national team, Atefeh Keshavarz, along with Zahra Rahimi, a silver medalist from the 2024 Paris Paralympics, and other athletes on the squad shared their plans, concerns, and opinions with their colleagues.
They stated: 'We continue training with great enthusiasm and readiness, and we hope that by maintaining this pace, we can achieve good results for our country at the Asian Paralympic Games in Nagoya.'
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) approved the schedule for the Women's Asia T20 Cup 2026 on Thursday. The eight-team tournament will take place in Dubai from August 28 to September 13, according to Cricinfo.
The tournament kicks off with a Group A match between Hong Kong and Thailand on August 28. A significant group clash between India and Pakistan is scheduled for September 5. All games will be played under lights at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The final match is slated for September 13.
Group A includes India, Pakistan, Hong Kong, and Thailand. In Group B, featuring defending champions Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and the host nation United Arab Emirates (UAE) will also participate.
An important Group B match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh is planned for September 6. During the group stage, each team will play against the other teams in its group once. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
The first semi-final, pitting the winners of Group A against the mid-table teams of Group B, will take place on September 10. The second semi-final, between the mid-table teams of Group A and the winners of Group B, is scheduled for September 11.
This upcoming edition will be the sixth Women's Asia Cup in T20 format. Sri Lanka participates as the reigning champion after winning the previous edition, while Bangladesh won the title in 2018. India is the most successful team in this competition, having won the title three times in T20 format—in 2012, 2016, and 2022.
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) may soon announce the final schedule and venue for the Women's Asian Championship 2026. The sixth season of the tournament is expected to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from August 28 to September 13.
Although the ACC has not yet published an official schedule or venue, information about the proposed timeframe was sent to all eight participating nations. According to Cricinfo, the ACC emailed the cricket boards participating in the tournament on July 22, requesting that the period from August 28 to September 13 be kept free.
Teams were instructed to arrive in the UAE by August 27, and the tournament final is likely to take place on Sunday, September 13. Final approval is currently awaited from the Chairman of the PCB and ACC head Mohisin Naqvi.
As in previous years, eight teams will participate in the Asian World Cup. In addition to the reigning champion Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Malaysia, Thailand, and the host country UAE will compete. All cricket boards are awaiting the official schedule from the ACC.
Amid this uncertainty, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made a mistake by accidentally announcing the Indian team's squad on social media on August 2, after which the announcement was immediately deleted. The leak included prominent names such as Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Barhati Fulmali, and Rich Ghosh.
Immediately following this tournament, the 2026 Asian Games will be held in Nagoya, Japan. The Indian women's team will participate in the Asian Games, which will run from September 17 to September 24. If the Asian Championship final takes place on September 13, the teams in the final will have only four days to travel from the UAE to Japan and acclimatize to the atmosphere.
