The main objective for Moreirense in the national football I Liga is to ensure survival in the division, as declared by Vasco Botelho da Costa during the press conference before the match against Sporting de Braga.
Vasco Botelho da Costa, who will assume his second stint as Moreirense's coach, specified that the minimum goal for maintenance is to reach '35 points'. However, he added that, considering the youth, ambition, and progress of the team in the previous season, there is a desire to surpass this level.
Exceeding the 43 points and seventh place achieved last season would be considered an advancement. Despite Braga having more competitive experience due to European commitments in the Conference League, Vasco da Costa assured that the Moreira de Cónegos team is ready and eager to offer 'a positive response and joy' to the fans.
He acknowledged possible tactical changes from the opponent, stating that the team has 'many good solutions'. The coach reinforced that the work done was very positive and that the pre-season was on an upward trend, expressing anticipation for the game to assess the current state of his team.
Although the club maintains the possibility of making small adjustments until the end of the transfer window, the main squad composition is defined, offering guarantees of continuity compared to the previous season.
Moreirense will host Sporting Braga this Sunday, in the opening round of the Portuguese football I Liga 2026/27. The game will start at 8:30 PM, at the Estádio Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas, located in Moreira de Cónegos, under the refereeing of José Bessa (AF Porto).
