Piazza began observing training sessions on Friday alongside the national team's strength and conditioning coach, Giovanni Rossi. This occurred after Iran completed its participation in the 2026 Volleyball Nations League campaign.
The head coach will closely monitor the players during training before finalizing the list of 14 participants for the Asian Championship.
The Iranian team has planned a trip to Russia on August 20th for a ten-day training camp. Following this, they will travel to Japan, where the 2026 Men's Asian Volleyball Championship will take place in Fukuoka from September 4th to September 13th.
This tournament will also serve as the first stage of qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, as the Asian champion will earn the right to participate in the Olympics.
Greek head coach Sotiris Manolopoulos has arrived in Iran to oversee the preparation of the men's national basketball team for the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2027 Asian qualifiers and the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya.
Manolopoulos landed in Tehran on Sunday at Imam Khomeini International Airport, where he resumed work with the national team ahead of the final training camp.
Iran is scheduled to participate in the fourth qualification window for the FIBA World Cup 2027, with all Group E matches taking place in a centralized format in Manila, Philippines.
According to the schedule, Iran will play against New Zealand on August 28, 2026, and against the Philippines on August 30, 2026.
