The head coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, Miguel Cardoso, once again stated his open policy regarding Tapelo Maseko, but the player's desire to leave the team has effectively suspended any possibilities of reunion.

After Sundowns defeated Polokwane City 3-2 in the MTN8 quarter-final at Lucas Moriphe Stadium on Saturday evening, Cardoso commented on the club's position and his personal relationship with the forward.

Cardoso explained: 'There are no problems between coach Miguel Cardoso and Tapelo Maseko. I had a great conversation with Maseko yesterday.' He added that during the discussion about the situation at the club, they had to ascertain whether the player wanted to stay with the team.

The coach emphasized his willingness: 'I do not want to work with players who do not want to be part of our group. I asked him and said: 'Look, my heart is open to you here; the team is open to you if you want to join us and remain an open heart'. '

Cardoso acknowledged that the matter is now beyond his control, as Maseko clearly indicated his desire to seek playing experience elsewhere. Nevertheless, he highly praised the player's character, noting: 'Tapelo is a wonderful boy. We love him very much.'

In a three-day friendly match held at the Non-Script Cricket Club ground in Colombo, the Indian team secured a tense victory over the Sri Lankan team by six wickets. The match finale resembled a scene from an Indian film.
