The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is conducting a strict campaign to combat food adulteration and control quality across the country. As part of this campaign, an inspection was carried out at 26 three- and five-star hotels in Bangalore.
A total of 35 food samples were collected during the inspection and sent to a food laboratory for analysis. The FSSAI team discovered several violations related to food safety in various hotels. Among the identified errors were incorrect or incomplete labeling and branding, storage of expired products, and improper storage of edible goods.
It was also found that vegetables had started to mold in some places. Furthermore, rules regarding the separate storage of vegetarian and meat dishes were not being followed.
Due to all these violations, notices were sent to the concerned Food Business Operators (FBOs). Legal proceedings will be initiated against these cases before officials in accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006.
The samples collected during the inspection included tea powder, chicken, mutton, fish, vegetable oil, red pepper, turmeric, tomato sauce, lemon juice, cheese, papads, cashew, ginger, black pepper, spice powder, oil powder, and milk. All these samples were sent to the laboratory for testing.
It should be noted that previously, the governments of Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat had imposed an immediate ban on the production, storage, transportation, distribution, and sale of analogue cheese, cheese, and butter due to rule violations.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority continues to inspect food ingredients in various parts of the country, and appropriate measures are taken if violations are found.
