The Delhi-NCR region experienced flooding and traffic congestion due to a series of intense rains and thunderstorms. Rainfall is forecast to continue in Delhi over the coming days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Delhi-NCR on Saturday. According to IMD data, cloudiness is expected in Delhi-NCR during the day, with possible light or moderate rain in some areas in the morning and afternoon, as well as light precipitation at night.
In Delhi, the maximum temperature is forecast to be between 33°C and 35°C, and the minimum between 22°C and 24°C. Most areas of Delhi are expected to have minimum temperatures below normal, and the maximum temperature will also be below normal.
The meteorological department expressed concern about heavy rains in many parts of India, issuing severe warnings for regions such as Kerala and Odisha. The monsoon is very active in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and West Bengal.
There is a possibility of a low-pressure area forming along the banks of the Ganges River in West Bengal and in the coastal areas of northwestern West Bengal. This could lead to heavy rains in Eastern India.
Meanwhile, according to the weather agency Skymet Weather, August is the second wettest month for Mumbai after July, with an average of 560.8 mm. However, the lack of rain at the beginning of the month caused concern, and this period of weak precipitation may continue even after mid-August.
