A major project is being implemented in the Nurabad District of Uzbekistan to create intensive pistachio plantations on state reserve lands. The administration of the Samarkand region reported on the visit of the region's Governor, Adiz Boboev, who inspected the progress of work in the Nurdum mahalla and examined the newly established pistachio plantings.
During the inspection, the governor instructed officials to gradually expand the planting area. According to Boboev, the plan for this year is to create plantations covering 2,000 hectares, with an additional 3,000 hectares planned for next year. In the long term, the total planted area is expected to reach 20,000 hectares.
Boboev emphasized that this project involves more than just tree planting. He noted that once the plantations begin bearing fruit, they should be transferred to local residents. This will allow them to manage the plantations, generate income, and sell the harvest. Furthermore, the governor instructed employees to strictly adhere to agronomic requirements and approved planting schemes.
The first stage of the project is expected to provide employment for 500 local residents. Each worker will sign a contract under which they will be responsible for 10 hectares of pistachio plantations. According to regional administration data, the main goal of the project is to create jobs and ensure residents have a stable source of income.
