The students' agitation against alleged irregularities and paper leaks in government job recruitment exams in Jharkhand has intensified. During this protest, a delegation from the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) reached the protest site in Ranchi and expressed complete solidarity with the students. The party clarified that it would provide every possible assistance to the students in this movement.
Amidst this ongoing agitation against recruitment exam irregularities, CJP spokesperson Ashutosh Ranka emphasized that the party stands firmly with the students. The party's delegation, led by Mukesh and Akshay Shinde, reached Ranchi to meet every need of the students during the agitation. This step was taken at a time when various student organizations are continuously putting pressure on the government.
Meanwhile, the Jharkhand government held a meeting with several student groups on Saturday with the aim of calming the growing protests. A five-member committee of state ministers first met with the protesters led by JLKM leader Devendranath Mahto, who had been on a hunger strike for seven days. Subsequently, the committee also held separate discussions with representatives of NSUI (Congress-backed), ACS, and JCM.
Discussions were also held with representatives of the JPSC/JSSC Reforms Forum on Friday night. Sanjay Prasad Yadav, a member of the government committee and a state minister, stated that the demands of the protesters are reasonable and will be presented before Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
Despite the talks and assurances given by the government, the protesting students have decided to continue their agitation until their demands are met. A representative of the JPSC-JSSC Candidates Forum said that the government assured a quick decision, but the protest will continue until all demands, including the cancellation of the 14th Jharkhand PCS Civil Services Examination, are fulfilled.
Various student organizations have put forth different demands to the government. JCM has demanded the cancellation of the examination, while NSUI has demanded a CBI/CID investigation into the JPSC and JSSC exams within 90 days and the formation of a 'Jharkhand Testing Agency (JTA)' on the lines of the National Testing Agency. The Tribal Student Union has demanded the inclusion of regional languages in qualifying papers and the cancellation of flawed examinations.
Reaching out to the students in Ranchi, CJP leaders stated that they stand completely with the youth of Jharkhand and the Cockroach Janata Party is with them. The party said that it is not a political group, and it will be present wherever injustice is done to the students or their rights are violated.
The party further commented that the current situation involves malpractice in exams, paper leaks, and bidding for jobs. Children first struggle for recruitment, then for answer keys, and face trouble due to repeated changes in rules. CJP assured that experiences gained from the Jantar Mantar agitation would be shared here, and they would support the students not from the platform, but from below the platform.
