The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a serious disciplinary action against the rising all-rounder Hamza Naazir. The council suspended his participation in all forms of cricket for two years and imposed a fine of 10 million Pakistani rupees.
This case was initiated due to the submission of false and incomplete information during the visa application process. The PCB announced this decision on Thursday, stating that an internal investigation found Hamza Naazir guilty of providing inaccurate and incomplete information when applying for a visa. According to the council, the athlete provided misleading details and concealed certain important facts.
Conflict clouds chances for tour to West Indies
Despite Hamza Naazir demonstrating consistently high results in local Pakistani cricket recently, he was also among the candidates for the Pakistan national team for the recent two-match series against the West Indies. However, due to the visa dispute, his selection did not materialize.
To investigate this matter, the PCB formed a three-member committee. During the review, Hamza Naazir was given a full opportunity to present his side. Subsequently, the committee examined the available evidence and submitted its report to the council, upon which this decision was made.
PCB sends a strong signal
In its official statement, the PCB emphasized that honesty, professionalism, and responsibility are expected from everyone associated with Pakistani cricket. The council noted that providing false data, concealing facts, and submitting misleading documents are extremely serious violations. Such behavior does not meet the standards required of individuals connected with Pakistani cricket.
Furthermore, the PCB clearly stated that it will not tolerate any actions that could damage the reputation of the board, Pakistani cricket, or millions of fans.
