The central government has amended the Drug Regulations of 1945 as part of a large-scale campaign to combat regulatory fraud in the pharmaceutical sector.
These changes grant regulatory bodies the right to temporarily suspend companies that provide false or fabricated data when attempting to obtain approvals for medicines and related licenses.
Uzbekistan will host the International Informatics Olympiad (IOI) for the first time in its history. The thirty-eighth edition of this competition will take place from August 9 to 16, bringing together 386 students from 97 countries.
According to data from the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, the total number of participants, including delegation leaders, coaches, members of the international committee, and guests, will exceed 900 people. Details of the preparations for the Olympiad were presented at a press conference held in Tashkent.
The Ministry reported that the preparation of the national team of Uzbekistan began in November 2025. About ten training camps were organized with the participation of specialists from Kazakhstan, Poland, and Romania. After selecting from 100 students, two national teams were formed, each consisting of eight people.
Uzbekistan was granted the right to host the Olympiad in 2023. The country's proposal was approved during the 35th IOI, which took place from August 28 to September 4 in Szeged, Hungary.
The International Informatics Olympiad annually gathers high school students from around the world for problem-solving competitions that involve analysis, algorithm and data structure development, programming, and testing. Each country is represented by a team of four students, accompanied by a head and deputy head of the delegation. The competition lasts two days, during which participants individually solve three algorithmic problems in a five-hour session each day.
The official symbol of IOI 2026 is the Humo bird. The logo design includes geometric shapes, lines resembling electronic circuits, as well as binary digits 0 and 1. The binary sequence in the logo reflects the year of the Olympiad and the organizing country.
Applications for higher education showed an increase of almost 22% when compared to last year's data. This growth reflects high demand for access to higher education, reaching a level not seen in three decades, with over 60 thousand candidates registered in the first phase alone.
Protests by students over alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC exams continue in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. On Friday, August 7, during an AISA march in front of the legislative assembly, severe unrest occurred. During this incident, ink was thrown at the AISA national president, Neha Bora, after which she was detained by the police.
Neha Bora arrived in Ranchi to support the students and met with students who were on strike. The man who threw the ink stated that he dislikes Neha Bora because she supports Umar Khalid. He added: 'I don't care. I threw ink at her. They are all traitors to the nation.'
Following this incident, Neha Bora criticized the BJP and RSS parties. She stated that it is representatives of the BJP and RSS, who claim to be on the side of the students, who are throwing ink at her today, while students are marching in front of the legislative assembly demanding the cancellation of the JPSC and JSSC CGL exams.
Bora asked if they think they can suppress the anger of students and youth across the country simply by throwing ink at her. She issued them an open challenge, noting that if this emerging student movement does not shake the foundations of their hate politics, it will be a disgrace to student politics.
Furthermore, Neha Bora emphasized that people who are not related to the students' problems but use them for their political gain should be ashamed. Commenting on the ink incident, she stated that she is not afraid, having already faced pellet gun fire and police detentions during demonstrations in Delhi.
