Despite holding an MBA from IIM, internships at major companies, and high academic achievements, the graduate's career start turned into a negative experience at a company in Noida. According to the graduate, he entered an environment where being five minutes late could result in a salary cut, and wearing jeans drew criticism from senior colleagues.

He shared his experience on the Reddit platform. The graduate stated that after graduating from the prestigious Delhi University, he earned a degree from one of India's top ten IIMs in March 2026. He also mentioned an internship at JP Morgan, where he achieved the rank of Director through merit. Subsequently, he accepted a job offer from a company located in Noida that promised a good salary and position, but later realized it was a mistake in his career.

According to the former employee, this family-owned company, with fewer than 200 employees, operates under very outdated and different principles. There were extremely strict rules regarding clocking in and out, and even a five-minute delay led to a deduction from the salary. Most decisions were made by the managing director, his daughter, and a senior vice president.

Employee ideas and suggestions received little attention. The former worker noted that the company's mindset was highly conservative, and attempts to introduce new methods or make changes met with resistance. Because of this, it was difficult for employees to voice their ideas and try anything new.

The strangest aspect for him was the criticism related to clothing. Employees were expected to wear formal attire at the company. If anyone came in jeans, they could be reprimanded by senior colleagues. Although changes and new concepts were discussed within the company, most employee suggestions were ignored. In the former employee's opinion, this created a feeling that putting forward ideas was pointless.

After spending about three and a half months at this company, the Reddit user admitted that although the company considered him a valuable and necessary employee, he himself began to feel that he did not fit into the atmosphere. He feared that working in such conditions for a long time would negatively affect his future and career. In a state of confusion, he sought advice from other Reddit users on whether he should resign or stay.

The graduate also reported that he had signed a two-year service contract. If the employee leaves early, he is obligated to pay a penalty equal to three months' salary. Nevertheless, he believes that if leaving is necessary for his career, the financial penalty will not stop him.

A new type of worker has quietly appeared on Chinese factories over the past year. This position does not require coding; its essence is to be near a humanoid robot, repeatedly performing the same movements. In this way, the person gradually teaches the machine how the human body moves when lifting a metal rod, turning it, and placing it in a box.

The average annual salary in this field ranges from 500,000 to 800,000 yuan, but the number of people willing to do this job remains small.

This role has now received an official designation. At the end of July, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection published a proposal to add twelve new professions, among which is 'AI Embodied Robot Application Technician.' This is the first time China has officially classified the work of training humanoid robots as a digital profession, formalizing skill expectations and pay levels in an industry that previously recruited staff informally.

Wei Xinfeng, who transitioned to this role after many years as a traditional industrial robot engineer, compares the work rhythm more to that of a driving instructor than a programmer. Human demonstrations are recorded, trimmed to about eight seconds of useful movement, repeated thirty times, and then fed back into the model. Patience and muscle memory are valued here, not algorithms. Furthermore, this work produces something that pure coding cannot achieve: a continuous stream of data on human movement that cannot be reproduced on a large scale using synthetic systems.

Hiring data confirms the existing shortage. The recruitment index for embodied AI roles increased 15 times year-on-year between January and April 2026, reaching 579 from a base value of 36. The average monthly pay in this segment was 62,000 yuan. New positions related to humanoid robots increased by 215.8%, and the average annual offer reached 406,100 yuan. Minth Group, an auto component supplier headquartered in Ningbo, reports that its embodied AI business has grown 400 times in one year and still has 40 open positions for trainers.

Universities are beginning to react, but slowly. Nine leading engineering universities, including Harbin Institute of Technology, Bihang University, and Beijing Institute of Technology, opened specialized programs in embodied AI in 2026. According to industry representatives, demand for production is doubling every quarter, while student graduation is growing linearly. Consequently, the labor shortage is not a temporary bottleneck but a defining feature of the embodied AI decade's labor market.
