The first passport-sized foldable smartphone available in Brazil, the Galaxy Z Fold 8, was launched by Samsung along with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2. During the launch event in São Paulo, which was attended by journalists, influencers, and market representatives, details and prices for the new products were disclosed.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 features a 4:3 aspect ratio, making it more compact when closed, measuring 12.39 cm in height and 8.19 cm in width, which minimizes black bars during video viewing. Its internal Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen is 7.6 inches and reaches a brightness of 3,000 nits. The structure is built with Flex Titanium, making it twenty times more resistant than the polymer used in previous generations. The device operates on Android 17 and One UI 9.0, equipped with a 4,800 mAh silicon-carbon battery. Color options available in the official store include lavender, black, white, and pistachio green.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra succeeds last year's Fold 7 and stands out as Samsung's most powerful foldable model. It features an 8-inch internal screen and a 6.5-inch external screen. In terms of cameras, it has a 200 MP main lens with an f/1.7 aperture, a 50 MP ultra-wide, and a 10 MP telephoto lens, offering 3x optical zoom. Battery capacity increased from 4,400 mAh in the Fold 7 to 5,000 mAh, promising up to 27 hours of video playback. Additionally, wired charging reaches 45W, and this charger is included in the box, at least in the Brazilian market. The Fold 8 Ultra will be released in dark purple, black, white, and dark green, with the latter two being exclusive to the Samsung website.
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 was presented as a device with few changes in its lineup, positioned by Samsung as a lifestyle-focused alternative. The 4.1-inch Flex Window received a redesign, incorporating an app tray and greater integration with Now Brief. The device body, made of aluminum, saw a reduction of 0.4 mm and 8 grams, reaching a final weight of 180 grams. In Brazil and most countries, the chip used is the Exynos 2600, manufactured by Samsung itself, using 2-nanometer technology. This smartphone comes equipped with a 4,300 mAh battery. Color options for the successor to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 are black, white, pink, and mint green, with the latter two being exclusive to the official website.
The Galaxy Watch 9 maintained the design of the previous generation but was updated with an aluminum case and a 25% lighter strap, available in 44 mm and 40 mm sizes. It introduces the Snapdragon Wear Elite processor, displays a Super AMOLED screen with sapphire crystal and up to 3,000 nits of brightness, and boasts a 20% larger battery. The operating system is Wear OS 7 with One UI 9 Watch, and it includes the wrist-raise functionality to initiate conversations, activating Google Gemini without touch or voice command.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is the first Galaxy Watch to receive the Snapdragon Wear Elite series chip. Its titanium body has been reduced by 12%, and the 1.52-inch screen features sapphire crystal and a maximum brightness of 5,000 nits. Battery life has increased by 35%. This model offers a trail running mode, which provides elevation data, route maps, and a hydration alarm calculated based on weight and BMI, in addition to including a dedicated ocean diving application.
The South Korean giant also announced several promotional offers for acquiring the new products, including the possibility of doubling storage by paying less. For example, consumers can purchase the Fold 8 with 512 GB by paying only half the difference compared to the 256 GB model. This promotion will be valid from August 6th to September 6th. Additionally, the device includes NFC for contactless payments and a sophisticated Vegan Leather design in Gray. Its technical specifications are robust, featuring 256GB of storage and 12GB of RAM.
