Discussions continue actively ahead of the release of Imran Hashmi's long-awaited film 'Avarapan 2'. After the trailer attracted attention, major news emerged concerning one of the film's most iconic songs—'Tera Mera Rishta'. According to reports, the original performer of this song, Mustafa Zahid, may rejoin the creators.
If this happens, it will present a significant challenge for the music industries of India and Pakistan in recent years. According to available information, the creators of 'Avarapan 2', Mukesh Bhatt and Special Bhatt, are in talks with Pakistani singer Mustafa Zahid. Plans are underway to create a new version of the 2007 hit 'Tera Mera Rishta'. However, negotiations are ongoing, and a final decision has not yet been made.
It is reported that if a deal is struck, the song recording will take place in Dubai. Notably, this new version is not planned to be included in the film itself; instead, it will be used exclusively for promotion on social media and within digital campaigns. This is because using the song in cinema screenings could cause issues with film certification.
The source notes that a partnership with Mustafa Zahid would be extremely significant for any Pakistani vocalist in a major Hindi film recently.
Following the terrorist attack in Uri in 2016, the Hindi film industry decided not to collaborate with Pakistani artists. This stance was repeated after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in 2025. In this atmosphere, the news of a possible collaboration with Mustafa Zahid has drawn widespread attention, although it remains only at the discussion stage.
In the 'Avarapan 2' trailer, released on August 6, a reworked version of 'Tera Mera Rishta' was already presented. The composer for this new version is Mitun, and the vocals were performed by Saj Bhatt and Subod Sharma. The lyrics were rewritten by Said Qadri once again. In the trailer, this song evokes memories of the original 'Avarapan' against a backdrop of action scenes and emotional moments.
In the 'Avarapan 2' trailer, Imran Hashmi is shown again in the role of Shiv Pandit. This time, his character appears more broken, filled with anger, and burning with a thirst for revenge. Disha Patani plays the role of Jara, and Shabana Azmi portrays the main antagonist Nafisa. In addition to them, important roles will be played by Puran Gabbi, Aniruddha Rawal, Surendra Vicky, Vijayant Kohli, and Atul Kumar.
The defining characteristic of the 'Avarapan' franchise has always been its music. Songs from the first part, such as 'Tera Mera Rishta', 'To Fir Ao', and 'Mahiya', remain beloved among fans to this day. The music for the sequel is prepared by Mitun, Jit Ganguly, Amal Malik, Ankit Sachdev, and Wasif Ahmed. So far, the compositions 'Ve Junoon', 'Ye Avarapan', and 'To Fir Ao' have been released. If Mustafa Zahid returns, it could further heighten fan expectations regarding the film's music.
'Avarapan 2', directed by Nitin Kakkar, is set to be released in theaters on August 14, 2026. It will compete in theaters with Sunny Deol's film 'Bantwara 1947'. Therefore, everyone is now watching to see if the creators can bring back Mustafa Zahid.
