Samvardhana Motherson International reported a 31.2 percent decrease in consolidated net profit in the first quarter ending June 30, 2026. The reason for this decline was increased material costs.
According to the report, the company's consolidated net profit amounted to 1075.66 crore rupees. In the corresponding period of the last fiscal year, the company demonstrated a net profit of 1561.56 crore rupees. Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd (SMIL) presented this information in regulatory documentation.
Consolidated operating revenue in the first quarter reached 35,243.77 crore rupees, exceeding the figure of 34,309.31 crore rupees for the same period last year. However, total expenses in the quarter under review were higher at 33,964.73 crore rupees compared to 32,355.72 crore rupees a year earlier.
Furthermore, the cost of consumed materials in the first quarter increased to 19,378.83 crore rupees, whereas in the corresponding quarter of the last fiscal year, this amount was 18,007.35 crore rupees.
Commenting on the results, Motherson Chairman Vivek Chand Sehgal noted that the company started the 2027 fiscal year on a strong footing, achieving its highest quarterly revenue in history. Sehgal added that stable profitability was ensured through disciplined execution and cost optimization, despite input price inflation and changing geopolitical conditions.
